I have found about 20-25 of these fountain pen and flashlight combos and illuminated pencils, but these two are among the goofiest.

I don't have any pens with lights in them, but I do collect walking sticks and have one from about the 1910-20 era that incorporates a light to see where you are going. German made, it unfortunately uses batteries that are the equivalent of the now defunct 'B' cell.

As I haven't got around to making uo a battery carries for smaller cells, it isn't currently functional. Rather clever - the bulb in the front of the stick is exposed by turning a silver sleeve to uncover it - and the sleeve then makes contact with a brass pin, thus acting as a switch.

I think that everyone has his or her own favorite goofy patent. It's not a competition. You could, however, have a contest to find the goofiest poster, past or present, on this penboard, but then you'd have 2035 candidates to choose from.
Best to take it to "Chatter", though. ;~)

Another one (1,214,959) of these. Note the name of the inventor. I guess it the other Sheaffer might have taken him in the courts if this pen were sold as a Schaffer pen
So, if you find a Schaffer pen on e-bay dont assume immediately that it is a spelling erro

hey antonois, an old geezer hereabouts sold me a windsor set that had a fountain pen, ballpoint, pencil, and flashlight---i have still not found the battery size that will get this cute critter to work. i got the whole set for less than 10 cents.

Interesting. I'd love to see a fountain pen/flashlight combo. I've got a small Swiss Army knife with a ballpoint and LED light:



However, a true fountain pen with a built in flashlight (particularly an LED light) is something I'd like to get my hands on.
