I have a beautiful Parker 61 that I just love... extra fine writer and flawless. I have a question about flushing the capillary system. I have a bulb from a camera lens blowbrush that works great for flushing. I just finished flushing the pen until it ran clear. My question is this. What is the best way to dry the water out from the capillary system. I have it in a cup with tissue paper in the bottom with the nib resting on the paper. I blew air into and through the capillary system with the blowerbrush bulb. Any other ideas?

Hi,

Just shake the pen like a thermometer until all of the ink comes out. (Or centrifuge it).

Let it air dry.

Dillon's got it right. Unless you have some type of centrifuge, the "thermometer" method will work.

I use an ear syringe with the snout cut to fit over the capillary filler to flush out the ink until the water runs clear, then I shake the pen like you would a thermometer to flick as much water out as possible, then I lay the pen (nib down) on a piece of tissue or paper towel and let the remaining water drain onto the paper and dry.

Hi Onion,

I wrap mine in a bit of tissue paper and put it in the bottom of the airing cupboard, warm but not too warm and very dry, I leave it for 24hrs.

Just don't put it near herself's best clothes if it might leak a bit and you like living biggrin.gif

When I got my signet 61 I soaked as recommended by young R. Binder then blew through.
I used the camera blower (tissue around the nib end).
Made sure to keep the arrow out of harms way smile.gif

I'm using 50/50 Watermans Purple/Florida Blue (recommended by himself as well) ever since and have had no problems whatsoever. It is now one of my daily carries.
