I would *love* a Sailor 1911 eyedropper filler. The only thing that's been keeping me from seriously considering getting a Sailor 1911 has been the *&*$%!!! converter.

I hate converters. sad.gif

I heard the Delta Dolce Vita makes an amazing, write for days, eyedrop filler. But it's a little too pricey for me to want to play with.

Anyone know of any really cool, cheap conversions?

Here is what you want. The Recife Crystal is a cartridge/ED filler! How cool is that! You can use it with short interntional carts or as an eyedropper - and they are under $100. I picked one up from Swisher pens not long ago and it is a very nice writer with a gold plated steel nib available in F, M, or Broad. Pen is clear so y9u can see how much ink (and what color) is left. Caps come in a variety of colors. Pen holds a ton of ink!

If you want to try a large eye dropper without risking too much cash you might look at the Wality 69L. They are eyedropper only, not punch fixture for cartridges.

WWW.ISELLPENS.COM has them for $10 USD plus S&H.

Other options: Get an ED like a DaniTrio Densho (complete with shut-off) or make an ED out of the DaniTrio Takumi by adding an O ring. Though more than the Crystal Recife, a raw ebonite version of either should be less than a new full-size 1911. If you can find one, I have heard you can also make an ED out of a plastic Sheaffer Javelin, though I have not tried it. I don't know if they are still around, but they were on sale last December for around the $5 - 7 range.

For anyone into smaller pens, Pilot makes a nice little ED pen - its about the length of a Pel 600, but the width of a 150 at the section. I ordered one a couple of months ago from and have been very pleased with how it writes - though its on the small side for me.

Quite true, Tim. I did a review way back in the Pen Review forum here. The Javelin converts with no effort and with a little minor smoothing, its fine nib makes an excellent writer.
