I am looking to put a 10K gold nib on a Parker 45 (newer version) to use as an everyday pen. The pen will be used extensively. I thought that by having a 10K nib extra fine or fine put on, it would be stronger than a 14K nib?

Does anyone have any thoughts/knowledge abou this?
Thank you!

Considering how small the nib on a 45 is, I doubt it will make much difference....

I don't think it matters. 10K versus 14K depends very much on which other metals are in the mix, and you don't know what those are. I have heard one person with a lot of experience comment that all of the 45 nibs seem about the same, regardless of material.

I'll second that opinion. It pretty much comes down to the alloy mix in addition to the gold. And, of course, since the nib is tipped, it doesn't really matter what the gold content is (Sailor makes nice 21K nibs) unless you are trying to make a flexible nib. All IMO, of course!
