I really like my 1911, but the one thing that keeps me from loving it is the much discussed tiny c/c filler system. To add insult to injury, I can't keep ink from getting behind the piston in my converter, so I've given up and am just using up my supply of Sailor Red and Blue-Black cartridges.

I've read that you shouldn't make an eyedropper out of a pen that has metal in the barrel that will be exposed to the ink. But I've also read that ink is _much_ less corrosive than it was is the good old days. Is this still really a concern? I also wonder if the ring of trim at the posting end of the body is a potential leak hazard.

I've seen comments here and there with people speculating about the 1911's eyedropper potential. Has anyone actually tried? Or is it just a really bad idea?

Ryan.

I'd be interested in this as well, as I barely get a day's writing before having to refill.

I personally would not do it. Why risk corrosion to a nice pen like that? I am looking at mine right now and I just dont think it would be a good idea. If you do decide to do it, keep us posted.
