Hi all

I am hankering for a yellow FB .... takes me back to my childhood and my first FP at school blush.gif

I have narrowed down the field and wonder if any of you have any experience with any of the following, for instance nib, ink flow etc. As a southpaw I need a nib that is smooth and wet, I think any lefty will know what I am on about. I have a while to research as I am getting it for my birthday but the choice is over whelming.

Anyway my favourite of the moment is the Monteverde Essenza in Essential Brown (not strictly yellow but a very cute pen). Anyone used one of these? I have never used a Monteverde so have no experience of any of their nibs.

Sailor 1911 ..... I have read a couple of reviews that suggest that they have a good nib, but am worried that they look a bit "plasticy", anyone have any experience with the nib and could also tell me what one looks like in "real life".

Waterman Charleston .... I tried one of these yesterday in the pen shop and it wrote like a dream so thats definately on the list, I just like the look of a couple of the others more.

Conklin Glider ..... I like the look of this pen and beleive Conklin has a good repuation but again I have never used one. Anyone have any good/bad glider experiences.

Aurora Ipsilion .... I have an Aurora style and quite like it. It has a medium nib on it which I find a little scratchy, anyone used an Aurora broad nib before? If so an opinion would be appreciated.

Thats the short list of the pens in my price range, its going to be a treasured gift from my partner so I want to make an informed choice and get it just right if I can. I hope the Essenza is good because thats leading the field laugh.gif

Cheers

The Sailor 1911 doesn't have a good nib. It has a fantstic nib. I'm a lefty, also, and it is one of my favorite pens. I bought the music nib and it is a superb writer. It can be used upside down for a finer stroke width. If you decide on the 1911 you won't regret it. I can't comment on the Charleston. It isn't here yet but should be delivered in a day or so.

I have a Sailor with a modified music nib (bought off the marketplace) and it writes very well, as do my other Sailors with fine nibs. I have the Waterman Charleston in yellow, with a medium nib, and it writes smoothly all the time with no complaints, even if I leave it in my bag without using it for days. It's a cheerful pen. I think you'll have no regrets with either. smile.gif

Hi Tomas and Leigh

Thank you very much for your comments .... gradually I am narrowing down the field.

Can anyone comment on the Conklin glider please?

Thanks
