Earlier this afternoon I called Pam and spoke to her about the Namiki vanishing point pens. She was so sweet and we had a lovely conversation. I didn't order the pen yet for several reasons. First, I just received the Omas sterling silver yesterday and I somehow feel that ordering this one today would be somewhat selfish. I also want to make sure that I like the pen before I invest in it. The only trouble is, I can't seem to visit pen stores without absolutely needing everything in sight!
I am a lefty and I wonder if it will be comfortable in my hand. When I was in FPHospital for their show back in April, I tried zillions of pens but I can't remember if I actually had this pen in my hand. Memory, memory my kingdon for this memory....
I just wanted to add to the Pam mystique by reporting on this very nice conversation!

I've had nothing but good experiences with Pam as well. As for the VP, I think for this particular pen its important to try it out first.

I live in the Detroit area, about 15 minutes from Pam's store. She is a terrific person to deal with.

Good grief! Wait for something? Yikes!! Ok, ok, I will try to calm down! The torture here is that when I go on vacation from my babies in school, I am in a location where I do NOT have access to a computer except by appealing to someone I know who goes to the LITTLE local library....(gasp) ONCE a week...I then have to present my library card (yes, I pay taxes in this alternate location) and be subjected to the scrutiny of the ladies behind the desk who WALK ME to the small bank of computers and inform me I have a half hour to be online. Add this to the fact that there are no pen stores in five million paces and you have one miserable, impatient, countrified person who, every other year has been relaxed and enjoying the quiet nothingness of the woods.
If I had known back then what I know now about this fountain pen world I may have bought a penthouse in some basement in Manhattan.......

I have made multiple purchases from Pam and have had the same wonderful experience each and every time.
She is a wonderful lady

I don't normally do "me, too" postings but in this case the kudos are well deserved. In the short time I have dealt with Pam (online, by phone, and in person) I have been very impressed with her knowledge, promptness, and willingness to take time with me. She appears to truly care about her customers.
Also, TWICE in the last two months she has been able to get pens for me that other dealers (on both sides of the globe) could not--and at better prices.

the decimo will be introduced in the u.s. in about a month.
Really? Any links to available colors?

the link here. I would have expected pilot to have better pictures though if this is the official website ...

Now I want to know if it will be introduced in the UK as well. The smaller size really does appeal to me.
Anyway, another leftie here shouting out in support of the VP, love mine to bits, ideal office carry around pen.

Ditto the plaudits for Pam!
I bought the Decimo overseas several mos. ago and it has an 18K nib. Wonder if the USA version will have the 14K that is in the VP or the 18K in the Japanese model?

I don't think Pilot has enough time to devote to Bill R. sort of pics for their website given the hundreds of pens they market. Yes, that is the official site.
It's exciting to know the decimo will come to the US. I hope in the 14K nib and especially the pink champagne.
not that I can buy one for several months now.
Stephen, my "yellow pen quota" was met when I had a talk with hubby and he agreed I could get the Pelikan Citroenpers pen. Hency my protests of your Yellow VP sale at a very competitive price. I had only days before committed to the Pelikan. If one can call my accumulation a "collection" then I mostly collect Pelikans. But if I were to collect another pen brand/model - it would be the VPs.

Ah -- well I hope you enjoy your Pelikan. I have more Pelikans than any other pen -- an M200 and an Athens, and I'm looking out for any new city series. Actually, I'm limiting my collection of fountain pens to 6, but I keep on trading those!

I'll chime in on a few points:
1) Yes, Pam is awesome!
2) Another lefty here who really likes his VP - just not for really long writing sessions.
3) Pam is also a lefty and she helped me a lot getting my first FP and inks that would be southpaw-friendly.
4) Tahitian Pearl is my preferred blue-black also: permanent, great color, good lubrication, quick drying.

Yippee, the Decimo! Hopefully, when it gets to the US, the price will drop to how much a regular VP costs now or less.

not less, I'm sure. Slightly less material but same technology - doubtful that that constitues a lower price than the standard.
The reason the decimo it is more expensive in Japan (than the US VP) is the 18K nib. The standard VP with 18K nib is the same price in Japan as the Decimo.

I was at a pen show at a local Pen Store last week. They were showing the new Steel Blue VP with the 18k nib and it was very impressive. Very smooth and the blue was a stunning color. They said they were due out in a couple of months. This was the regular size, not the Demico.
