Just finished resacing this one last night.... A nice Black with MOP chip Sheaffer Jr. with a beautiful writing fine nib....
The MOP chips are wild against the black radite and really glisten as you turn the pen in the light....

Nice! I've been looking for one of those myself, actually. The MOP chips really appeal to me, but they seem frequently to be ambered.

Saw a few good ones at the Chicago Pen Show. I was deciding between an Ebonized Pearl and a Red Veined Grey Pearl Sheaffer Balnce pens (but I was mesmerized by a Nakaya tamenuri) and left with only a Snorkel Crest (gold cap/black body) with a stub nib.

Out of sheer curiosity, Tom or anyone out there, what would be a fair price for a pen like this? I have no idea about the prices of vintage Sheaffers and have always loved this finish. What is too much?? Thanks in advance for any help

I would say in the $50.00 range in nice shape and restored...

Nice pens Tom and Elaine
Ebonized Pearl does command a premium. I sold a pen and pencil set with excellent color not long ago for $70. I had several offers on that one as soon as it went up for sale, so I think it was a good price. I have seen them go for a lot more. I can't imagine what those OS ones that Daniel posted would go for.
Personally the two I am keeping were less than $20 - but they were un-restored vac-fillers, and have been a bit of a PITA to restore.

I bought the set from John, and can't be happier with it! They are beautiful and even better in person

Thanks for the info, folks. I saw one in excellent condition with a fine nib (I normally prefer medium) for about $100. Not sure I'm willing to pay that much but I must say, I've been taken with that finishe since Elaine posted it some many moons ago.

This one went for $23.50.
It is a vac fill so I walked away.

Griz, yours is a beauty. The Abalone shell looks positively fluorescent.
I recently got an ebonized pearl Lifetime in a vest pocket size for my brother-in-law. He really likes it.
Is it unethical to charge a family member an upcharge for tracking down and bidding on and paying for a beautiful pen? The next time I think I'm going to add 20% for "pain of separation" from a really cool pen.

I know someone whose wife takes a cut on anything she sells on ebay for him.
