Full Version: Wife Lost Fountain Pen!

My wife just lost her favorite fountain pen. I would like to track down the same type of pen if I can. Unfortunately, I don't know the exact pen. Here is what I do know:

I was a white dot sheaffer pen. (It had the white dot on the clip)
It was thin.
It was "heavy"
It was green, with gold trim. The nib was a fine point, and firm, so I assume it was gold-plated steel, but I couldn't be sure.
The cap closed flush with the body of the pen, and had a flat, gold-plated top.

I bought it when I was in college, so I know A) it wasn't overly pricey cool.gif I probably bought it new sometime between 1986 - 1994. C) I probably got it at some business supply store, or college bookstore.

My wife loved the fine point, the thin-ness of it, and the weight. If anyone can help me track down what model it would have been, I would be grateful.

Do you remember what the nib looked like?
Ergman
It was gold (plated, I assume), and simple. It had a kind of flat top (where the slit was), and bent angled sides. The nib jutted out from the body of the pen. (Kind of like a simple pelikan)

The overall style of the pen made me think it was a Cross, but it was a Shaeffer.

(It is hard to describe without pictures blush.gif )

Did it look like this...

This is a Sheaffer Targa... a thin pen from the time period you mentioned..

I believe it was also made in a thinner model called the Slim Targa... They came in a few different finishes...

If so I have seen a bunch of them on eBay...

I just wanted say I was sorry to read of the loss. Best of luck finding the replacement.

That is close, but the nib is all wrong. Looking at some pictures on the net, perhaps it was a Shaeffer "Fashion" ?? It seems to be that style. It was a matte finish, though. Would that be in the right time/price range?

this is a Sheaffer Fashion pen (from an old add in the market place in this forum):

this one can be found at airline.stores

Good Luck!

That is the pen! The one listed on the website is a medium, not a fine, but now I know what I am looking for. Thanks to all for all the help!

If anyone has such a pen in fine point, and is interested in selling, I would be interested in buying. My wife says it is not a big deal, but she keeps surfing the net looking for one, and sighing pitifully.

While I haven't got the pen, I do have a thought. What a nice guy you are! Bravo! You rock!

you could always buy the medium point and send it to a nibmeister to convert it to a fine point.
