Back quite a while ago..... I sent Richard a VP Broad nib to stub... I told him no hurry... I really meant it (at the time tongue.gif tongue.gif )
Well it's a good thing that at my age, you memory starts to fade and you forget things you did a couple of months ago...

Today my Namiki VP Stub nib arrived....
I immediately inked the cart with some PR Avacado that I always use in this pen.
To say I am impressed would be an understatement... the nib is absolutley fantastic... of course being a Binder nib, we all know it would be...
I would say it is about a .8mm stub... not really sure, but it writes real close to the .8mm on my Pelikan that Richard did...
Sweet, wet, smooth and with the Avacado some decent color variation...
For those of you who don't want to wait... Richard has nibs already done for sale... I just happened to have an extra nib...

Congratulations, Tom! How many cursive italics and stubs do you have now?

Do you have both steel and gold Pelikan nibs from Richard? If so, do you notice any difference between the two?

Thanks.

Ron

Congrats, Griz. Nice to see you putting that nib to good use ; )

Nice looking work from the nib, Tom.

<minor thread hijack>Do you own Noodler's Green Marine? I'd like to see the two of them side by side. My take is that they are very similar colors and shading. I have the GM but not the Avacado (boy, it's hard for me to spell that word that way)! If they are close, I'll stop thinking about Avacado since the excellent water resistance of the GM means something to me.</minor thread hijack> smile.gif

This is my third (and not last) stub nib... I have a .6 and a .8 on Pelikan 200s both steel nibs that are butter smooth with great line variation.
As I said, if I had to guess I would say this is a .8 and I really love the idea of having it readily there in a VP...
The $27 pen I just got from Kev is a nice big medium to my eyes... a lovely nib and nice and wet.... I am considering having Richard make a .6 stub out of it when I see him at the DC Show in August.... One of the nice parts about having a table there is being able to corral him before the doors open ... rolleyes.gif rolleyes.gif
MMMMMM I wonder if I can get Bob to give me the table right next to Richard.. tongue.gif tongue.gif tongue.gif tongue.gif

Roger, I don't have Noodler's Marine Green, so I can't give you a comparison... I would really like to see one myself... I got the Avacado before I really knew about Noodlers inks....

Gods that's gorgeous, Tom.

Makes me want to get a custom nib. . .

Maybe next month. . . smile.gif

Avocado looks much darker and more olivey to me than Marine Green, which is brighter, more emerald like.

Is that your handwriting, Griz? Wow!! Beautiful.

Looks like I might have to give Avocado a go sometime in the near future...
