I wanted a green-green since all I had before was British Racing Green which at first glance almost looks black until you look a bit closer. I also bought DC Supershow Blue, but that has enough reviews already. I didn't find one for Spearmint so I made one.

A little disclaimer - this scan is slightly off from the actual color, but I couldn't really alter it very well so this is it.

Good review John! I hope you'll do more of them.

I've got this ink, and on my monitor the color of your scan is VERY close! Thanks for the review.

Thanks, John! More than one pen, more than one writing style, descriptions of the major characteristics: cool cool.gif .

Thanks for the review! I really like the colour even though I usually hate greens ohmy.gif

Good scan by me, John. The very dense scribble down by your signature looks just like the herb and very close to the sample provided by Clark in his INK SAMPLER.

Fair enough! My other favorite green ink color is Noodler's Gruene Cactus. I'll do a review on it soon. smile.gif

First, Beautiful handwriting! Very nice review too, beautiful light green that i never imagine i would like. Thanks

Oh, BRAVO!! biggrin.gif Great review and great writing!! Now you HAVE to make a review of every ink you own, whether or not there are already 3 of them on FPN reviews.

I had a vial of this ink, and it was just a little too bright/brassy for me, but I really like the way it looks here. That italic nib really shows off the color nicely. I may have to rethink my opinion on this hue!

Thanks for posting this - I am looking forward to more from you.

Thanks for all of your nice comments and such. When I do this type of review again, should I make the picture smaller or is the size ok?
M4R1N4
I think the size is great. I have to scroll a little to the right, but I would rather see it this size than smaller. Seems like the color is better when the page is full size!! Probably just my imagination though.
chupie
Nice. I didn't mind the size.

HI,

I PREFER BETTER YOUR CALLIGRAPHY AND INK RESULTS, IN THE BEGGINING OF THE REVUE!!

I am writing with this ink "write" now in a 1941 Parker Vac (green, 'natch) and, as always, lovin' it! The nib on this pen is medium-fine, and the ink dries to nearly the same color as an actual spearmint leaf -- a more dark than "light" green. A very nice, well flowing and consistently colored ink.

You know, I didn't care for J.Herbin Olive green at first but it really grew on me.

I was going to look for a review of it.The web site shows a delightful olive color.Being a big fan of olives and Middle eastern cuisine, what better color!!!!

I like the green...more chroma ... its more lively...

I needed something to write while trying my new bottle of Spearmint....

... And a close-up

(These scans are nothing compared to the real ink. It is such a pretty ink in real life... This is the best I could get. Sigh...)
Ghost Plane
Well thank you, AnneM. I was already deciding that Sherwood Forest was too "winter" for this time of year, but didn't want to give up green altogether. Now I have an option. cool.gif

Wow! I love that shading! I've been looking for a green. I was considering PR Spearmint or DC Supershow Green or Diamine Jade. Now I think I'll spring for the Spearmint! Thanks AnneM!

This is the best scanned image I've ever seen on this board.

I just picked up PR Spearmint myself today. It is a much "brighter" green than MB Racing Green.

I like this green a lot. I have been trying out a lot of green inks lately, includeing MB Racing Green, Levenger Always Greener and Noodler's Hunter Green.

I think MB Racing Green is my overall favorite, as it is a very "professional" looking green. It goes on almost black and the green is more apparent as it dries.

Levenger Always Greener is a bit "too bright" for me. I can't take it seriously. Also, Levenger inks tend to smear a lot for me.

The Spearmint is more of a "true green" in my opinion. It is an excellent color, but not one I will want to use for professional purposes.

The Noodler's Hunter green is a bit darker than Spearmint, but it does have the waterproof feature.

DRP
Great review, John Harvey! Looking forward to more.

Anne M, your contribution was well done, also. Please continue to add comments or write your own reviews.

EXCELLENT JOB, BOTH OF YOU!
AnneM
I'm very glad I could be of help to both of you, Ghost Plane and artaddict!

And DRP, thank you for the kind words!

I feel encouraged to write more reviews, though I think it is better to photograph them. My scans look kind of strange compared to the real thing. The process of scanning seems to "unsharpen" the written text, as if it is covered by a veil.

I bought this color last month and I use it to correct my student's tests. I love how I can make it darker or lighter with my fountain pen.
Writer44
That is very green! Much appreciate the accurate scans.
