Got this Visconti Opera the other day, I can see why it's such great seller.

Congratulations on the pen! I have one of these Opera Clubs as well, in the Honey Almond. I didn't know if I would really care, but I really like the initials on top. The only things I would change - I wish it were a piston filler, and I wish the grip were also celluloid. But its a marvelous pen anyway!

I've been looking at both that one, and the Wall Streets. Excellent design. Just gorgeous. Congrats, and be sure to give us a good review!!!

Very nice! Any thoughts on how it compares to other Visconti models? I have the Van Gogh midi, and I'd be interested in finding out what it's like to make the leap up to the Opera.

I just got one myself. Black. In rollerball.

This IS a pen that's more on the heavy side (I haven't written posted yet as the barrel's heavy enough [!]).

I like the metal on this number. And that solid black resin; it's like it's from Darth Vader's helmet or something, so shiny. I'm considering getting that Visconti sponge and cloth just to maintain its shiny-ness. But, I'm finding that a Ray-Ban chamois does the trick of removing dust and fingerprints well enough.

Bottom-line, this is my first pen where resin is generously spread as the main material. I can see why this medium is favored. Along with the metail, the pen is, like I said, quite heavy, but, undoubtedly balanced.

This is also my first "squaring the round" pen, and, lemme tell you, once you start writing with such a model, you get used to the comfortability. You appreciate the sturdiness; doesn't feel like it's gonna suddenly slip out of your hand like some metal pens.

Great pen, well-crafted. Serious. Very classic.

Is the pen heavy?

No, it's pretty light. The bigger "Opera Master" might be significantly heavier.

BostonWIS ain't kiddin'. Stylophiles online magazine compares that Opera Master to "the Montblanc 149 or Pelikan M1000!" measuring the pen at "6 inches long closed, and 7 1/4 inches long if you post the cap."

And my local dealer (Honolulu Pen Shop, run by Earl S., who is just very knowledgeable regarding pens) had one available, and I got to write with it. I know I've already employed a sci-fi' fictional bad guy in my post above, but, man, writing with that pen, I felt I was like the Riddler or Joker sending a note to Batman, that Opera Master is so hyperbolically big.

Maybe if I really feel the need to show guests to my home my patronage of the Visconti Opera, I'll go ahead and pick up the Master and display it somewhere prominently in my living room, but, heck, man, I dunno why you'd need to use that pen on a daily basis, heh (just my opinion). Well, then, again, maybe I could; I 'd certainly have to hit the free weights a bit more often blush.gif .

Visconti Opera. It's just terrific. My fav' color is black, so, I'm really beginning to love this pen. smile.gif9
