I started a topic across the street at Inky Thoughts, and thinking it rude to cross post, I invite forumers of History to participate, if so moved. Here's what I posted:

QUOTE (myself at Inky Thoughts)
I don't really know where to post this question -- here in Ink, or over in History. Anyway, I was wondering what kinds of inks were used in the vintage pens we see here at FPN. For some reason I thought older fountain pens used a pale blue aniline based ink. But I don't know where that idea came from.

I was just wondering what color of ink would be used in a fountain pen back in, say, the 20's, or the 30's, etc. There must have been some exciting ink developments during this period. Or have I just had one sip too much wine?

Color, history, and composition of vintage inks...? Just wondering...

Pendemonia has a number of Shaeffer converters, and sometimes has the shorties as well. It probably would be worth contacting them.
