I picked up my first Conway Stewart last Friday.
A 73 in lovely rose and black hatch.
Barely a mark on it so I feel quite fortunate considering the price. At first I thought there was a little brassing on the clip but on closer inspection it appears as if there is a thin layer of some kind of varnish that is just coming away.Did they use a layer of something to protect the metalwork?
It has what looks to me like a fine number 4 nib.I will have to get the sac replaced and have a go with it.Don't do it myself yet.
Here is my first picture of it.Not brilliant but I was trying to use natural light.

Hooray, maxrhino, what an entry! Its a lovely pen and I'm sure you will thoroughly enjoy it. The colours look very nice and deep, have you tried it dipped yet?
I wonder how much longer pens requiring new sacs will still be around and discovered. Doesn't look like slowing down yet.
This must be one of the nicest colours/patterns they made. I hope you are able to use it regularly.

That's a beautiful pen. Use it well. I've been carrying my #15 most every day since I got it.
May I ask what you paid for it?

Hello Chrisb.
I bought 5 pens for £40.I'm keeping the two in the best condition.I got a Parker Televisor Slender in lined grey in equally good condition.
I will dip it this evening and see how it goes.
Anybody any ideas on the clip coating I mentioned?
Cheers.
Phil.

No idea about the clip, but that's a great deal you got on the pen.
