Full Version: Grrrr...leaky pen

I recently purchased a Signum Orione from Fountain Pen Hospital because they had a great price on the older, lapis blue version. It's an awesome writer, and I really like the somewhat more subdued color.....but it leaks sad.gif . I don't think the converter is sealing properly onto the nib, which wouldn't be a big deal except that I'm pretty sure it's not the converters fault. I've tried two different converters, and it's the same story - inky barrel, inky section. Hmm - I thought cartridge/converters for all their boringness and low ink capacity were at least a reliable choice.

And here's the tangential problem: I modified the included leather case by cutting out the pen loops sewn inside, so I imagine FPH won't take it back on return (and I don't blame them).

Any advice on things to try?

They should repair or swap the pen irrespective of the case. I presume you are willing to keep the case. FPH has a good reputation. They will probably do everything they can to keep you a satisfied customer.

I just got an email from Ed Fingerman, saying that he will replace my pen regardless of my case chopping, and I should send the broken one back for the exchange. Good call, Andy. Sometimes, I need to have more faith in pen people smile.gif FPH has earned a customer for life.

I had the same problem with a Signum Orione. I tried two different converters and got leaking with both. I think you're right that it's a problem with how the converter fits. Then I tried cartridges, and I haven't seen the problem again (although it hasn't been that long yet).
