Ok, I posted a poll..I think and I don't know where it went so I will ask the question here. If you had the choice to buy a Montblanc Skywalker with the diamond (100th anniversary edition) or the Omas society sterling silver fp. which one would you buy and why?

I'd by the Omas.

I much prefer Omas nibs. But why don't you try both and decide for yourself. What size/style nibs do you prefer?

Omas, because they work ..

I love fine points for drawing but for writing I love the medium nibs and a wet feel. I just had the aggravating task of trying to clean my Rotring Core. I was marking compositions in school and it was skipping...what an aggravating thing sad.gif .
I guess I will go back to the red Bics and not attempt to write on looseleaf paper any more.

do you mean the 100 yrs starwalker edition? I dont have that particular model but I do have a starwalker. I really like the nib, it is different from the Meisterstuck nib, it is much more smoother and has a wetter nib. But the downside is that it only takes cartriages and out of 15 or so i have used 2 of them leaked (My pen was just setting on the desk). Not to mention it is hard to clean out the ink since there is no piston or converter to activly push out the ink. Currently that pen is in the storage box, i have taken it out of my collection of daily use pens. If you plan to use your pen like me I would think hard on the starwalker. I hope this helps you to make a decision.

I saw in the literature that it only takes a cartridge...why would this company do that?

I think you answered your own question.

Basically, I think the Skywalker and the granite anniversary Starwalker are thought of by the marketing big wigs over in Germany who has no clue what a FP is all about.

But of course, with the new Uni-Ball generation will find the cart-only idea cool and befitting.

I think there will be enough people who will buy it as their first FP ever in their life.

But I would go for OMAS

funny you said that because that was my first FP.

Omas club pen for sure...

I own quiet a few pens from both brands. Omas gives you much better writing experience: smoother and more flexible nib, better feed, etc.

I have the starwalker FP. I can live with a cartridge converter not holding enough ink, but a fountain that doesn't take bottled ink?

But if you are the kind of collectors who don't even ink the pen, then I guess that's a none issue.

I turns of the look, I like Omas better...

While I respect the rights of others to never ink their pens, I could never live with myself for denying the pen its right to be inked and have its say. That would sort of be like buying seeds and never planting them or buying ice cream and never eating it or having money and never spending it. I could go on and on...
