Just got a 69L, and seem to have the dripping problem many allude to. The ink flows out from between the feed and nib in great quantities.

I pulled the feed and reinserted it, but the problem persists. I did the hot water/push the feed toward the nib trick, no change. So, some questions:

1) How far should the feed be pushed into the section? Mine protrudes out the back probably 2mm.

2) What is the ideal relationship of the nib to the feed, in terms of how far down the nib the feed should be. (I suppose one could also phrase it as "how far up on the feed should the nib be placed?")

Thanks for any help!

The problem could also be an air leak somewhere at the barrel or the barrel section joint....
IF air is entering the barrel somewhere, you would get the same problem.
Have you tried some silicone greast on the threads of the section before screwing it on the barrel.

Well, I started to write that the silicone grease had done the trick - but nope, I just picked it up to write some more and the problem resurfaced.

Back to square one...

it could be that the feed is primitive, that is consists of just a gutter with no channels cut into it. if this is the case, then you would need a chiseled exacto and carve the feed channels yourself.

there is no arrangement of the feed in relation to the nipple and nib that can fix this problem.

FWIW, mine will drip one big drip after the tank is three quarters or so down and then it will stop doing it as it gets closer to empty.

I think the nib and feed is the same as the 69L piston filler which does NOT have this problem. It also doesn't have that big mass of ink behind the feed.

The feed might need to be set to cure the problem. I've been putting this off on mine because somewhere, maybe in "Da Book", I remember the late Frank Dubiel saying something to the effect that feeds almost never have to be set.

I've been using new Skrip Blue in mine and I am going to try a less free flowing ink to see if it cures the problem.
