Full Version: Getting a Photo of Blue Ghost

I don't usually hang out in the "Pictures and Pen Photograpy" area because most of the time I'm on dialup out here in the swamp. I do enjoy all the pictures when I'm on a grown-up computer biggrin.gif .

Any hints on how to photograph a "Noodler's Blue Ghost ink" image?. I'm using an old Sony Cyber-shot 3.2.

Thanks

LOL...when I first read the title of this thread, I thought that this was going to be a question about photographing weird, paranormal events. But then I did a quick web search and realized what Noodler's "Blue Ghost" ink really is.

Anyway...I would think that you should be able to photograph an object under a black light just fine. Your camera should perceive the reflected light (in this case the invisible ink,) just as easily as your eye should. I don't actually know this for a fact, but there is a photo on Pendemonium.com, (see below) that shows this ink under a black light. You'll definitely need a tripod, or some other means of supporting your camera, as you obviously will have to turn the flash off.

Also, because you have a digital camera, you will be able to see what sort of results you are getting right away. Post some photos once you get it figured out!

I also don't have any experience photographing the Blue Ghost ink, but my suggestions are:

Turn off all lights, close curtains, etc... Just get in the dark.
Have no light sources other than the UV lamp.
Turn off the camera flash.
Increase the exposure time setting of the camera (not sure if that's an option on your camera, but you should have some way of doing this).
And yeah, a tripod would help keep the camera steady while the photo is being taken (avoids blurring).
