The Noble Savage
Well, I was tinkering around with my pens on Sunday and I got a wild hair up my Yoohoo and I decided to do some mad scientist work. I have to Stipula Verona (For levenger) Pens that write extremely horrible!!! My Stipula 22 write ok now but it doesnt get as much use as I would like.

So knowing that nibs on both pens nibs unscrew out as a unit, I decided to unscrew both the stipula verona nib and the stipula 22 nib units and clean them out. I have had problems with a few titanium nibs in the past and this one was no different. The nibs on the Veronas are 14kt 2 tone nibs with Levenger printed on it. Both of the Veronas are broads and I never use them due to the problems with skipping and feed starvation. Well, I decided to put in the 14kt gold Verona nib into the Stipula 22 and it fit like a glove!!

The nib started up rather quick and the line was a nice juicy broad. Now the Problematic Stipula 22 received a heart transplant and a new lease on life. The pen write fantastic now especially with a nice looking nib.

One minor issue, the verona nibs are wide and it seems to catch in the inside of the cap shile you are either unscrewing or screwing on the cap. So I removed the inside cap liner being careful not to mess up the cap threads. Now the cap fits like a charm on the pen.

So if you have a Stipula 22 that writes like total (Potty Mouth) then you can either send it back to the factory over and over again, do the major modification that seems to do the trick or you can buy a Stipula Verona off of ebay for around 50.00, maybe less, maybe more. Switch out the nib and instal the 14kt in there and you will have pen that will be a total pleasure to use.

This is the small size nib/feed units. The following Companies use the smaller sizes that fit on Veronas and Old 22's

Marlen
Smaller Older Bexley pens with the smaller 14 kt nib/units (Gemstone)
