Full Version: 800 in blue - different section variants?

I was looking at some 800's this past weekend in Chicago at the show, almost dropped the hammer on one, but I greatly dislike trim on the section near the nib. Do all blue 800's have this, or is there a possibly earlier version with just a plain black section? Or, alternatively, can the trim be removed easily? Just about every pen I've seen with this type of trim suffers from corrosion of some sort on that trim and I can't stand to look at it.

It's not a statistically significant sample, but all of the 800's that I've seen, blue or otherwise, have had a trim ring on the end of the section.

I haven't yet, but at some point in the future I plan to try replacing one of those section trim rings with a piece of black hard rubber. Customization is normally just for fun, but that one would be a very practical one.

Thanks Chris, I'd be curious to see how that turns out. I don't think I can buy a modern pen with that kind of section, now an old all metal section on a Wahl or something, well, that's different. smile.gif
