Anybody recall a pen recently made that was covered in a broken eggshell and laquered?

I found it, wanted to buy it, now have the money and can't find it now!?

Anybody know who made it?

thanks

The only one that comes to mind (but not sure since it's pretty $$$) is the Lominchay Snow.

It was around $700 and I saw it in a store about 2 months ago. I had also seen it on paradise pen then too.

Paradise pen changed their site and if you ask me, totally goofed it by removing their manufacturer navigation. Looks nice, but shops like doody.

Ill look up the snow and see if thats what i was thinkgin.
plasma800
It seems like it was similar to that, but not the same.. maybe im just nuts... that does happen smile.gif

Yes, made in Taiwan by OEM penmaker JinGi (not a Japanese pen). I think Paradise pen got the exclusive distribution for the US. If they dropped it, you'll have to wait until they are picked up by a new distributor.
plasma800
In looking at Jin Gi's site, I do fully recall the words Opus 88 around this pen. I wonder if my local store still has it

Is this a pen manufacturer that can be trusted?

I vaguely recall that Dani Trio had a somewhat similar model. (?) Could be my memory though. You should ask Kevin/Winedoc.
plasma800
my local paradise pen store still has on in both fountain and roller ball.

Ok, so this is my first NICE pen.. and I reaaally WANT a fountain pen, cause.. i mean. come on.. how cool are they right?

But are they practical?

================

I check danitrio's site and didnt see anything like it although they have some beautiful pens!

does anyone buy a $700 pen because it's practical?

Does anyone here buy fountain pens (even for $10) because they are practical? smile.gif

i know I don't.

For what it's worth, the specific nature of my dysgraphia makes all other writing instruments pretty much impractical for me. Though to be fair, there are fountain pens a lot less expensive than most of mine.

I find writing with a ballpoint makes my hand hurt after a while. A gold nib forces me to use a light touch. Avoiding pain is very practical, I think...

That's my story and I'm sticking to it! biggrin.gif

LOL, You guys are great! Finally, a group as dysfunctional about how they spend their money as me!

I was actually IN the paradise pen store, looking down the barrel of spending almost a grand on a pen right? And the dumb old guy working there, RIGHT before i buy says

"Fountain pens are so difficult to work with, and boy.. if one ever leaks on you, you'll know why I steer clear. Maybe you should go to office max and buy a cheap one to see if you like it"

blink.gif unsure.gif blink.gif unsure.gif ohmy.gif

(if i was the manager, that guy would lose his job so fast he would find how practical the bus is!)

I always have had my eye on this pen. This is the real eggshell pen according to me.

One reason I use FPs is because of the pain associated with lupus arthritis. Writing with a ballpoint for any amount of time can bring on some pretty good spasms.

I'm still not sure I'd call that "practical" though - i've found that some rollerball pens and gel pens don't require much more pressure than an FP. I can see how FPs are helpful to those of us with hand strength issues and the like so I'll qualify my question that way.

other than possible "medical" aid, does anyone buy FPs because they're practical? smile.gif

oh sheesh..

yeah - great sales technique that.

and now to ask a question that might rile you...

what is the appeal to the eggshell thing? That is, what is it about it that appeals to you specifically?
plasma800
It's just so different and so cool man! How could I not lvoe something so odd.

Although there LOTS of cool pens i have found that I love. Typical the more ornate the more I like them and of course the more pricey they are.

most pens that make me drool are upwards of 1000, 2000 bucks. My problem is, I wanna use the stuff! Im not the type to just hang it up and look at it.

The Dani Trios are so awesome. I want something so unique, that when it comes out of my pocket people think "whoa, thats cool!"
plasma800
and can you beleive the sales guy? He is a total discredit to the store.. lol wallbash.gif rolleyes.gif
plasma800
Wow.. HANS how much is THAT pen? drool.gif

Hi KCat,

Completely right on KCat! FP are great to fight arthritis pain and they are great looking to boot.

I have yet to reach the $100 price point for each of my pens, I also admit that I buy for looks and comfort.

This is it!!! Right here!

Since I know owners of Danitrio, Loiminchay and Jingi. I will not publically comments on any specific pen or any of the owner.

Looking on the website provided... Many pens looks very familiar with some of the discontinued and current models of Danitrio and Loiminchay. The artist listed on the website is Taiwanese, not that there is anything wrong with that, as long as the techniques they use is still traditional. I don't own these pens, so can't tell you whether the quality is any good.

The bottom line is if you think the price is good and you like the pen that much, then get it as long as it makes you happy. cool.gif

Kev

I hear that! Tough decision really, cause it is pricey! I mean really... $700 bucks in my pocket?

May I borrow your pen? "HECK NO, BACK OFF JACK" uhmmm biggrin.gif
plasma800
WINEDOC I take it you sell pens?
nmb
Winedoc (Kevin Cheng) is the proprietor of Internet Pens and a dealer for Lominchay, Danitrio and Conway Stewart. I have never dealt with him personally (although I long for an ebonite Densho [maybe in Raleigh smile.gif] ) but the word around here is that he is one of the most reponsive, responsible and reasonable pen sellers on the net. He has personally done much for the pen collecting hobby by suggesting improvements to pen makers (notably acted on by Danitrio) not to mention being über-helpful on the message boards. He is much too modest to say these things himself, but there they are.
plasma800
Thats good to know.. he has a Danitrio that has seriously caught my eye!! And i'm 99% sure im going to buy it

Thanks for the kind words.... BTW, some of you guys are looking for flexy Stub. Did I tell you it is here and I have been using one. I'll post a pic later tonight.

Again. Thanks for the kind words.
