Instead of going to bed after my night shift we went to a car boot sale this morning.
Picked up a Parker 61 Flighter De-Luxe in its box for the princely sum of £2.
Okay so it isn't a capillary filler and it doesn't have a converter with it but i'll struggle past that somehow.Minimal surface wear and the box looks like it came off the production line yesterday.(will post pics when I eventually get home)

Oh the joys of sleep deprivation.

I wonder what delights tomorrows sale will bring?

Why can't I ever find car boot sales like that?!?

Believe me I have been more times and found nothing than been successfull.
Just been to another this morning and it was dire.
Very busy but mostly junk.

Very lucky! I look at the local car boots every week and find very liitle in the way of fountain pens. Maybe people don't think to take them when they are having a clearout.

I'm sure most people assume that if it doesn't work it's useless.
When I asked the lady how much she was wanting for the pen,she said,
"£2 if you can do anything with it".
It's as if she the thought I was mad for wanting it.
I'm sure the landfills are full of classics.

I'm sure that's true. In the late 1970s / early 1980s my aunt and uncle used to allow house clearance skips to be stored on part of their farm. My aunt has given me some of the pens that came out of those skips and kept some for herself. A lot of the pens she got out were in immacculate condition as well.

Only seen one P61 at a car boot and they wanted £35 for it and it really did look shot at - I presume it was the actual capillary filler which was coming out of the filling end in little wisps.
