How much will they charge to repair it? It's an OLD style with the twist mechanism that involves a little retracting metal rod. The rod wont retract anymore. Will they repair it? Thanks

Cross customer service has a super reputation.
It's one of the reasons I buy their pens with confidence.
Call: 800-282-7677 or check out www.cross.com for their service email.
If it can be fixed, they probably won't charge you.
If it can't, they'll probably replace it with a later model free of charge.
Good luck.

I believe they are currently requesting you send the pencil in with a check for $7 to cover handling and return postage.

I dropped mine on a tile over concrete floor in 1977 and broke the nose off. They were very good about replacing it at the time. I could tell that they had not repaired the one I sent in because the returned one had the new style, for 1977, of inscribed lettering. In the thirty odd years I've had my BP/MP set I have found them to be depedable and reliable.

If they cannot repair it, can I request that they send it back?

You could send them a letter stating that was your desire and requesting a reply, and email would probably be enough. They have a reputation of being pretty good about such things.
