Does anyone know if the Conway Stewart Doctor Pen with Italic Fine Nib shows line variation? Does the italic part change in width from the italic fine to italic medium? Any ideas on width? I like Richard Binder's 0.7mm cursive italic nib... would that be on par with an italic fine or an italic medium in the Conway Stewart 100 nibs? Thanks (from a Conway Stewart newbie).

I had a Trafalgar limited edition pen in Italic Fine, but I had to sell it: the nib jetted gallons of ink and I found it impossible to write properly without smudging. Basically, the italic fine isn't fine at all - it writes more like a broad.

I would advise avoiding italic nibs and getting a standard medium, or fine if you prefer. Maybe one day they'll come out with an italic extra-fine!
