Hi,
I have a 600 and love it. I wonder what the material is in the body of the pen. It seems very durable. I am thinking of an 800 and note that it is far heavier. Is the material of the pen's body different or is the weight difference only due to different materials in the filling mechanism?

Hi Tom,
Yes, the difference is in the filling mechanism. The 600 and smaller sized pens have plastic, press fit filling units. The 800 and 1000 sized pens have screw in brass filling units.
Other than that, the materials are exactly the same (celluloid and acrylic, I believe).

Here are a couple of photos that show the differences:

Awesome pics. I always wanted to see the inside of a modern Pelikan. On the Green Board, Ulugtekin is selling a 101N and showed it's innards as well (photo linked to Ulugtekin's sale):

I guess they haven't changed the filling system much in the past several decades!

Hi,
Thanks for the super nice photos and clear exposition of the differences. Now to find an 800 I can afford!

I too thank you for the super pics. This helps me understand the concept of the custom "Binde", and how it fits in with the construction of the pen.
