The Noble Savage
Just curious to know what you have bought in the past 2 to 3 months. As for me, I bought the following pens since the 1st of the year:

Stipula Pinocchio in red with a 14kt 1.1 stub nib

Stipula Saturno dark olive green with 18kt 1.3 nib

Stipula Etruria Black with fine nib from Grasshopper!! Going to exchange the nib for 1.3 Stub

Sailor 1911 in burgandy with Togi Emperor Nib from Moorthi

No Name 3 Tined 14kt gold music pen

Bexley Celebration in Independence Color with 18 kt Fine nib
Bexley Americana sierra silver with 18kt medium nib
Bexley Owners Club with 18kt Stub nib

Waterman Edson in Sapphire Blue/Gold Cap with Factory Stub nib

Montblanc 146 in burgandy for the Wife biggrin.gif

Pilot 823 with 14kt Broad nib

Sailor 1911m with music nib for the wife biggrin.gif

Sheaffer (Levenger Seas) in purple with a 14kt gold broad nib that was customized to a Stub by Dillon. I buy some of my pens from Frank C and he has a lot of nib work done by Dillon.

Sheaffer Legacy (Jim Gaston) Copper color with an 18kt gold broad nib customized by Dillon and made to a Broad stub.

Thats all I can remember for now.

I have to go through some of my other pens and see what I really do not use any more and start selling some.

I would have to do actual research to figure out what I've purchased/traded for in the last couple of months, so instead how about the last three weeks? biggrin.gif

Sheaffer Targa*(see bottom)

Parker "51" Aero - black (in the mail)

Sheaffer Balance - red striped

Mabie Todd Blackbird - blue marble/lever filler

Mabie Todd Blackbird - black, leverless (in the mail)

Waterman Taperite (just bought tonight - on its way)

Lamy 2000 (wait, that never came <_< )

Dani Trio Densho (traded away already for no other reason than it's not my Mikado)

*Regarding the Targa - if you don't have one, get one! This is my best purchase from the above list by far - especially considering the great price I got - and the Targa goes down as the biggest pleasant surprise in fountain pens I've come across in a while - Awesome pen!

Hmmm...since the first of the year:
- Pelikan M215 blue with silver trim, medium nib
- Sheaffer Snorkel Admiral, grey with gold trim, fine nib
- Sheaffer 500 'Dolphin', black with silver cap, fine nib
- Sheaffer Touchdown, burgundy with gold trim, medium nib (in the mail)

On a bit of a Sheaffer kick, next need some more ink colours.

NOS (fixed internal piston) Stipula Amber Etruria, gold trim, with a 0.9 mm italic nib. Just got it on Tuesday, beginning to break in the nib as per Wim's instructions. So far it writes like a dream.

...and maybe a couple of pens with some urushi on them??? biggrin.gif

I think that I've only bought a single pen in the last three months; an Oldwin.

While I havn't purchased many pens, I have been buying rod stock like crazy.
The Noble Savage
Oh yeah!!!

Thanks Chris!!

Let me add 2 more

DaniTrio Ban-ei Nishiki-nuri from Chris Burton

And a no name Japanese Urushi ED that is a smaller version of the Ban-ei in plain black. Both pens are most excellent!!!

Yesterday I received a nice Platinum #3776 with music nib....on the other hand, I have bought a super fast plasma arc light & 4.25x telescopic loupes. biggrin.gif
chupie
Way too much. And I am now carefully closing my eyes. Except I want more ink. But....I have an expensive asthmatic, diabetic, heart kitty. But pens are sooooo pretty. Good thing she is pretty too biggrin.gif (and an amazingly good patient.)

I've bought 5 HP pens, a little conklin, my wonderful Hanyro, A Pelikan Go, Rotring Esprit. STOPSTOPSTOP. (Jim from poohcornerpens is sending me a Sailor 1911M with music nib in trade for my Sailor with zoom, so there is that to look forward to.) It's just a mania. I would still really like a flexy nib. I still want a nice Mabie Todd. I don't know why but I have fixated on them a bit. I also would like to try a Conway Stewart. Man, this is ridiculous. I have ENOUGH pens.

But I need some more ink wink.gif
The Noble Savage
There is no such thing as Enough Pens!!!!!

Those Intrigues are nice little pens at a great price!! I have one in the petrol blue color!!

Let's see:
A few Esterbrooks, I like to draw with these (and look at them). A 9048 and a 9788 nib in there.

A few Sheaffer Vac Tuckaways:
A Brown/Chrome Tuckaway F nib, like my schoolmate had.
A Black/Chrome Tuckaway F nib.
A nice Black/Black Feathertouch Tuckaway XXF nib. Fabulous for fine drawing.
A Ford Blue Feathertouch Tuckaway F nib.

A Green/Chrome Touchdown Tuckaway F nib (From the FPN Marketplace), always with me.

A nice Black/Chrome Sentinel M nib.
A nice Black Statesman Snorkel F Paladium/Silver nib (From the FPN Marketplace), always with me.
A very nice restored Maroon Touchdown Valiant M nib. The slickest wettest nib I've used.

A Black NOS Cadet with a SS M Semiflex Tip-Dip nib (from somebody who's last name is Sheaffer). smile.gif

2 NOS Rapidograph piston 3060's, a "1" and a "00".

Pens I bought and need to repair/restore or sac:
A pristine Silver SJ.
A Maroon Touchdown Admiral M nib.
A Maroon Touchdown Tuckaway B nib.
A Black Statesman Snorkel, nib unknown (shipping).
A splendid Green Stripe Tuckaway F nib that needs new seals (I'm not that brave yet).

So I've mostly been catching up in the Sheaffer pen department, but my acquisition mode is pretty much played out for a spell (well, after I find that official business non-Balance fat black lever fill Sheaffer I want!)

Time to start drawing! /:)
zorroflores
Hello form Mexico,

I have been a FPN reader for some months learning a lot but not posting much. Today I received this pen and it is so nice that could not resist to show it here.

Its name is Kaigelu by Shangai Stationery Ltd, it is made out of a nice celluloid, with a hefty weight and large nib decorated with a kangooro, once in hand I really was surpised by their good finish. The box cover is real leather including parts of the inside.

The cost was less than 30 USD including shipping from Japan (and took less than 6 days, which is rocket speed for packets arriving here). I will try to give a feedback on the quality of the writing in the next days.

Best regards

Carlos Flores (very happy fountain camper!)

The trick is to buy a lot of inexpensive pens, like Esterbrooks that need work. Then within earshot of your wife, proclaim to other people that the majority of your pens cost less than $15. This worked for me for a long time! Oh, and I was also able to say that a lot of them were gifts (from Rebecca, she's actually MY really truely aunt)

I've had a couple of good trades and some buy/sell dipoles this year. Things that have come to me are:

(1) traded a mint Pelikan m800 with green stripes for a Pelikan mint m1000 in black, and
(2) traded a black Pelikan M1000 for a mint blue ice Bexley Prometheus.

And since I am currently unemployed, and looking at a new round of chemotherapy, I dont have any money to buy any pens for a while!!!! sad.gif

Pens I've bought since the start of 2006 (only listing the ones that have found a home in my collection)
Lamy 2000
Dani Trio raw ebonite Densho
Dani Trio celluloid Cum Laude
Duke Shark
Baoer 3013

not too bad, especially considering the Duke and Baoer combined, with shipping cost less than $40, and I got to meet winedoc in person when I bought the Densho...

I've purchased a few others which I've sold to help finance pen purchases biggrin.gif

Last night my wife and I were channel surfing and saw a show on sports collectables. She was very happy that my pen collection hovers around 10, and I don't have a room of the house filled up with $5000 signed baseball jerseys...

My wife has a friend whose husband restores old Cadillacs - usually 3-4 at a time. She says at least my hobby is small.

The other day, as I was flushing out a lever-filler, she said "why can't you have a hobby like roofing or fixing a porch" (contemplating some of the home repair projects we have pending). I suggested I could get into restoring old cars - she said old pens are fine.

Nice list John, love to see some of those.

Let's see, since Feb 1st (if I can remember them all)

Jade Sheaffer Balance
Black and pearl streamlined Parker Duofold Jr
Green striped Majestic with cool two tone nib
Black Canadian J Esterbrook

Well, I have a Parker 100 and a Waterman Edson coming this week.
Sold some nice pens too, got a refund on my tax return, and figured out my budget since I'm moving.
Ooops, no money for food. Major debt reduction plan in the works, better interest rate and cash, not credit cards.
But, I'm healthy. Sid, I'm praying for you and wish you the best.
I will test my willpower the end of July by going to the Toronto Pen Show.
I have everything that I want blink.gif so perhaps some ink and stationery and a chat with good friends. biggrin.gif

Here I wrote what I've bought in January and February.

In March there were no new pens, just some inks.

This April, I purchased 'only' four pens:

1. new Pelikan Level L5 black cap/gray barrel with a steel F-nib. A major German department store is selling off their stocks, so this was reduced to € 10 (gold nibbed were € 20) from MSRP € 75.
I would't have paid more for this, it's not worth the MSRP from a quality aspect. A very dry writer, which is not too reliable after a few days of unuse. I've taken it apart and flushed it, but is still dry, especially when being filled with Lamy Blue/Black iron gall ink.

2. as new Danitrio Takumi deep blue Urushi (limited Roiro-Migaki series) c/c with Stub nib, currently under nib exchange to a flexi EF. Our Gary in NZ sold his new Takumi to me for a great price (offered on this board for sale), and Kevin ('winedoc') gave his outstanding service for the nib exchange to me, the second owner. Thanks, Gentlemen! smile.gif
A beautifull, perfect pen in a black laquer wooden box for a great price. It will see some use outside the house for sure. This pen is still comfortable, despite it's size, but I'm sure I don't want a larger pen. Also posting is neither necessary nor possible.

3. new old stock OMAS double desk set with FP and BP on a green glass base for € 120 incl shipping inside Germany, won off ebay with no box or papers. They must have been on display and then in storage for some time (nib discolouration, storage marks on fp), but were unused. The glass base is pristine. They are the currently sold models. The two pens are black resin with 'Omas Extra' engraved on the sides. The tapered piston-filled FP has a stiff 18K F-nib and the striped ink windows of the current desk model (vintage models have a single ink window). It is a looong FP (21 cm! The tapered BP is 19 cm long), while the faceted green glass base is thick as bullet proof glass (1,8 cm height, 22 cm long and 14 cm wide). The pen holders have three golden stripes, the pens only one golden trim ring each. The set looks very plain and serious, made for a CEO's/President's desk.
The FP writes dry, scratchy and loudly, so some nib work is inevitable, if I want to write more than my signature. The piston is very stiff but works, the ink capacity is large enough. Actually I didn't find out the current MSRP of this set (there was a small old sticker with 365,- on it, but I don't know if DM or EUR) , while the sets are manufactured for decades now, they are still rare, so the price is fine.

4. new Pelikan M620 'Madrid' with 18K EF nib for € 165 incl. shipping, without box or papers, from Regina Martini's brandnew auction site http://www.martiniauctions.com . She offered me free choice of the nib (originally 'Cities' series Pelikans are only offered with F, M or B nibs) and will test it for me. This red marbled pen is one of the most beautifull 'size M600' colours. Just bought the pen and it has yet to arrive ...

There were also some dip pens and nibs, but they are not yet satisfactory. Also I've got some nice inks this month, like De Atramentis/Gutenberg 'Aubergine' (seemingly the single real Aubergine colour on the ink market), Noodler's 'Purple Martin' (nicer than regular purples, easy on the eyes), the Noodler's Swishmixes 'Thahitian Pearl' and 'Burgundy', among others ....

Now I'm eyeing a Pelikan 'Athens' in a B&M store, regular MSRP ..., but that will have to wait ...

A second Sailor 1911M. Have one (blue) I really like for routine writing. The second (red) is for grading--almost makes it fun. smile.gif

I'll post some pics eventually. Most of the Sheaffers will end up on the market. I plan to try to pull together some profiles on some of the other companies - Baird North, Ingersoll, and Good Service. One of the Good Service pens I have is pretty interesting, because it is an early HR pen. Good Service may have been one of George Kraker's projects after the demise of the Kraker Pen Company, and the pressure bar on this one is kind of interesting.

Well, 2 more pens purchased

DaniTrio Tosca in the blue 4 celluloid (M nib)

I'm anxiously awaiting the arrival of the Taccia from Mr. Binder's workshop. I also had my DaniTrio CumLaude's nib customized by Dillon, and I'm waiting for that to arrive as well.

After I have time for a suitable test of each, I'll post some reviews.

Some traded and a few small purchases -

Sheaffer Sentinel snorkel with a fine nib (needs a little adjusting)

Sheaffer Sentinel snorkel with an extra fine nib (I've been using a lot)

Sheaffer Craftsman lever filler with a nice wet fine to medium nib in my favorite Sheaffer striated color - carmine red. This one has been in my pocket continuously since trading

Esterbrook blue J transitional - I need another nib for this one as the 9550 EF is just too fine for my normal use.

Dani Trio "$27" pen - very nice pen but didn't fit my hand so it got traded.

sold several others to fund the above. But even now I'm looking at my collection and starting to realize there is some duplication of uses so perhaps something else will go out the door in favor of something with a stub nib!
