Hi,

I was just wondering if there are people (maybe even on this forum) who can take look at one's handwriting and determine, in combination with, for example, a picture of the position one's hand is in while writing, what sort pen / nib most suits one's writing style...

I own quite a lot of fountain pens, but none of those seems to be "the one". Any tips?

Best regards,
Jos

Hi Jos,

You could try Richard Binder's site or John Mottishaw's site, you could try to describe here how you hold your pen, or even mail me b/c if you prefer.

Susan Wirth specializes in this at Pen Shows. She sits you down, watches you write, and pulls out a pen she is selling which, according to her, is the pen that most perfectly matches your style, needs, and budget. While you are writing she chats with you about all sorts of pen stuff, pen luminaries, the proper way to ink a pen, and the best way to get ink off your fingers.

It is almost magic as well as lots of fun.

If you can't get to a show she attends, or you aren't close to Millwaukee, maybe she can do it by mail. Just ask her, she is a FP institution!

Having talked with Susan Wirth at the last NYC Pen Show, I can attest to her skill at suggesting a pen that will be comfortable, enhance your writing style, and delight your eye. And Richard, of course, with his enthusiasm for the art of writing, can talk one into almost anything!

Thanks for the tips! I'll check them out a.s.a.p.!
