I've a fine nib pen that could probably be smoother. Any suggestions for people that smooth nibs and have a reasonable que.

Thanks,

Would suggest Deb Kinney (KINNEY@law.duke.edu).
She is fantastic and has a 1 week turn around.

My more limited experience than Moorthi's with Deb is very good, also, Kurt. When no less than Jim Mammoulides recommended her, I figured that was good enough, and it was!

No knock on the known premier nibmeisters intended, but their backlogs are reaching the limit for many folk. John has an apprentice in Danielle. I'd like to see Richard take one under his wing also. Tough to do, though, as it takes time from your already large backlog and will have an effect on the cash flow, too!

Small businesses do have difficulties that we ordinary types rarely consider.

I'd suggest trying Dillon. Quite a few here have had nibs done by him and have been quite happy, myself included. Can't beat his lead time, either.

Well my pen's on it's way to Deb. Now the waiting begins.

Just curious...what kind of price does one pay for a smoothing service such as this?

Thanks for the info...

I'm very interested to hear back about the outcome. I've got a few pens that could used nib smoothing, and I'm just not good at it.

I think it's $15 & shipping for smoothing. Grinding & shaping is a whole other issue.

Thanks; that seems quite reasonable, and I might end up doing it for a couple of my pens.

There are nibmeisters on most pen shows.
This will give you the oportunity to attend, be tempted to buy more, and get your nibs smoothed.

And when there's a pen show within a reasonable distance of my house I might do that but until then it's mail nib grinding for me. wink.gif
