One of the things i well enjoy at Pentrace is the Sunday pen-pic "theme" day. Of course, with 5000 pen images floating around, any excuse to montage them is appreciated :-)
This week is "pastel pens".
Having shot two large collections of Parker pastel pens, i suspect i probably have 4-6x the archived images of these things as have ever appeared in any book. Ah, the charm of the digital age. Figured i'd share this one over here, with bit of info.
Anyhow, i mixed together the images from one color of this series- albeit stretching the "one color" claim by including both solid and moire versions of that color.
Too, we find that several styles of pen exists, moving from flat-top to streamlined and seeing one that looks (all the way to the right) to share conformation with one of the earliest of those pens lumped as "thrift time Parkers" by collectors.
These small pens are valued beyond the usual black or red small Duofold or Lucky Curve due to their unusual-for-parker colors and because we iindeed have some catalog and advert info about them.
Clearly they made the jump around 1929 from flat-top to streamlined. They can be found in solid or moire finish, though based only on the 50 or so i've shot so far, i wonder if the smooth finish was an early one, as i see it only on flattops.
Thanks for peeking
David
