Caran d'Ache Amazon Green

all my hues

Recommended Posts

At least, there's nothing listed for it in the index. Color looks good on my monitor, hopefully looks good on yours. This is an excellent ink, and I admit that I've wanted to use it for some time now. Mad props to Petra (aka dandelion) for providing me with some ink so I could write this review!

Though I'm a big green ink fan, Caran d' Ache is my favorite one. I only wish the bottles were a little more economical in terms of the amount of ink you get. But don't let that keep you from trying it. If you like greens, I think you'll love this beautiful color.

Thank you for doing the review.

Thanks for a very sympathetic review. I especially like the drawing!

Amazon Green is one of my favourites - it is a pure, intensive green without blue streaks.

I'm glad for this review, because this is a color I wouldn't like, sadly.

Thanks much for the very nice review. And I like your sketch. Could someone compare this to R&K Verdura?

May you have pens you enjoy, with plenty of paper and ink. :)

Please use only my FPN name "Gran" in your posts. Thanks very much!

This is a bit off-topic, but I love the trade suggestion in you signature, Gran. If I lived in the US and had the Sheaffer you were looking for I'd trade it instantly for your cookies! I might even look for the pen to be able to trade a pen for the cookies. :)

I cracked open a bottle of Caran d'Ache Amazon for St. Patrick's Day. (I had already inked two other green pens with Private Reserve Sherwood Green and J Herbin Lierre Sauvage). The Amazon was by far my favorite. Truly the color of a healthy shamrock. (On my monitor, the reviewer's exemplar is much lighter and much yellower.) The Herbin ink is pretty, but lighter. The Sherwood Green darker.

I just received all the Caran d'Ache earth colors as a gift, together with four other bottles that I have not even opened yet. (I have great friends!) :D

you don't get much for your money.

No, plus in a noodlers sized jar, it would cost ya $60 USD... but a nice green.

Thanks for the review, I like your drawing.

I've been interested in this ink for a while now; the color looks good and the bottle is even better. Sadly, I'm too cheap to spend that much $$ on a bottle of ink.

...it's very very very simmilar to Private Reserve Spearmint... Noodlers Gruene Cactus is also very close...

Well, have you calculated the cost of bottled water per gallon if you buy in in the little 8 oz bottles? It runs over $20.00 per gallon. About 5 times the cost of gasoline.

On the other hand, I wouldn't want to drink ink...

Oh yeah, I'm definitely too cheap to dish out $15 + S&H for ink (Pear Tree Pens is having a sale). But Storm is just so freakin' GORGEOUS.... :crybaby:

With exchange rate its' about 8 dollars a bottle. Not sure on shipping, but definitely cheaper way.

Unfortunately I don't see Storm there, not sure why! - Edit - scratch that, it's under lightning.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
