Sheaffer Skrip Blue

Here's a little writing sample of Sheaffer Skrip blue. I used a pipette to move it from a Sheaffer cart to my Lamy c/cv. Enjoy!

Looks like a very nice, well-behaved ink. I really should give this ink a try. Thanks for the review.

Regards,

I have one of these cartridges in a Sheaffer cartridge pen, with a fine nib. The color is a bit stronger than what appears on my computer monitor in this review. The blue in the cartridge is very pretty. I like it for an every-day blue.

May you have pens you enjoy, with plenty of paper and ink. :)

I have Sheaffer Blue in my Parker Sonnet and actually get some shading. That's probably due to the Sonnet's soft nib. ------ I have to share a bit of inky good news - last week I found a bottle of Sheaffer Skrip Blue, in the old style bottle with the ink well, at a local store for $4.50! It was the only old style bottle they had so I didn't waste any time grabbing it. :)

So many pens, so little time!

Has anybody tried the UV and water resistance? Thanks for the review.

It's not very water-resistant. It's a "washable" blue, easy to remove from fingers and fabrics. It's probably not very UV-resistant. It can be "eradicated" by eradicator markers from Pelikan (Super-Pirat, Super-Sherriff), convenient for students. It's a world champion performer on bad paper. I recommend it. Just don't use it to address envelopes.

It is very well behaved in most pens, just better performance in wet pens!

I haven't tested the resilience of this ink, but I'd like to!

P.S. I recently checked out Sheaffer Green and I'm in love.

  • 1 month later...

Finally got a bottle of this. It's a pretty blue, not quite the same as the old, but very nice.

My folks recently gave me a bottle of this ink that was purchased, I think, in 1956, to go with the Sheaffer Snorkel FP & pencil set my dad gave to my mom for high graduation. (They recently gave me the FP and pencil as well.) Anyway, the ink is still good and isn't the ink well inside the bottle nifty?

Is it just me or does it look like every other blue? (Lamy, Pelikan, Quink)

I got it free with an expensive Sheaffer pen. I did not like it at all neither the shade but more so its behaviour. it did not flow smoothly. I was quite irritated with it and gifted it away quickly. However I hear that old Sheaffer skrips are quite good but the one I got was in a conical wide bottom bottle.

I have it, poured from a bottle, in an Esterbrook Dip-Less Fountain Well on the dining room table, which is what passes for an "every-day" desk at our house. It's a pleasant blue that works well on the every-day paper that passes across our old oak table, and reminds me of the Dame's Rocket growing outside of the picture window.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
