Again the usual disclaimers involving colour representation, your monitor, my scanner, etc, etc, yadda, yadda.

Great review -- I like Aurora blue too.I use it in cartridges, primarily in Eversharp pens made after the 1957 takeover by Parker.

Actually this scan is the most accurate of the inks I have reviewed to date.

It is very well behaved ink, but the color is just too purple for me.

My #1 favorite blue. Nice scan.

Mine too. Use it in my Pelikan Polar Lights (Aurora Borealis, you see).

I find your scan very accurate in terms of colour in my monitor.

I like this dark-purple blue a lot.

Thanks for the review.

My absolute favorite Purplish-Blue ink. It behaves very well and looks very professional. I keep this ink along with PR Lake Placid and Noodler's Blue in heavy rotation.

Now only if Aurora would make a Blue-Black. . .

Do or do not, there is no try. . .

I would not hold your breath, I think Aurora is pretty old school, you can have any colour you want as long it is blue or black.

Blue purple, beautiful color really.

Thanks much for the review. This ink is now on my list of "inks wanted".

May you have pens you enjoy, with plenty of paper and ink. :)

Please use only my FPN name "Gran" in your posts. Thanks very much!

Aurora Blue is perhaps the most beautiful colour I have used to date. However, the actual shade of blue obtained is totally dependent on the paper on which it is used. For example, when writing on HP 120# paper, it appears as a dark blue-grey and lacks that vibrancy by which it is often so distinguished. On other papers, and in some notebooks, it can look almost like Visconti Blue. Only when I have used it on cheap envelopes(!) has it shown its full potential. :bonk: Ah, well, I'll keep trying to find a matching paper. Aurora Blue is worth the effort!

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
