I probably need to more specifically review the Habana notebook, but rather than give the details of the notebook, I'll just say that I really enjoy writing in this book and like the paper even more than the paper in the Journal 21 (which is also excellent).. It's just an absolute pleasure to write in.

So I had an 'INK fest' with Deirdre, who, in addition to inks I own, generously let me try and sample her extensive collection. I did most of the writing samples with a glass dipping pen, which is pretty juicy, and noted in most instances what ink and pen was used.

A big thank you.

So I thought I'd share this. I've got smaller images and the links are larger samples (higher resolution).

I hope this prooves useful.

A big thanks to Ken and Deirdre! So Ken, having seen all these inks in person, what do you think will be your next purchase?

WOW, what FUN!!!

Dangit, I'm having one of my "I really want that Iroshizuku Syo-Ro" fits again after seeing this.

AND I'm revisiting my desire to see more of Diamine Steel Blue.

I just bought a small Quo Vadis Habana myself, but haven't started using it yet.

To my very picky eyes, I do see some bleedthrough - maybe I call it bleed when I can even see the ink clearly on the other side. Oh well. I am used to that.

One note: Blue Suede, I believe, is a Private Reserve color, not Diamine.

Edit: That is one SERIOUSLY AMAZING ink collection!!!

Well after buying those Iroshizuku inks, my wallet needs a rest and I need more time to actually use the inks I already have. I was particualrly attracted to the 'blue' Iroshizuku inks (kon-peki, ajisai and Tsuyukusa) far more in person than from the earlier scans I'd seen here and on other sites. I was also surprised to see many of the Russian and English and other Bulletproof inks that I hadn't seen before. That Russian pink (Rachmanoff) really stands out, but I'm not a pink kind of guy. Lots of the Swisher inks look so much better in person than the samples on their website, a pleasant surprise. For now, I'll be taking my time making additional future purchases. I have way too many pens (preppys mostly) loaded up with ink right now and want to run some of them empty first.

There is some bleedthrough, but that's from the glass nib, which puts down a very heavy line. Some of what looks like bleedthrough is the page not laying dead flat and getting some backlighting through the paper. For fine nibbed pens - Preppy or finer, nothing showed any bleedthrough.
