Goodbye, LAMY Safari LIME!

Recommended Posts

I went to the store today and wanted to buy me a new limegreen Safari (I gave my old one away to someone) and I couldn't find them... hmm, strange, 2 weeks ago I saw MANY limegree Safaris there, maybe 20-30 of them, they could't sell them all in 2 weeks!?! I went to another store (biggest stores in the city) and the same story there o_O' they also had many limegreen Safaris few weeks ago... I went to other stores and there was no limegreen Safari in the whole city...

Then I remembered :eureka: Oh yeah, it's a limited edition model for the year 2008!

I asked the owner of one small store and he said he gave all of them back to the LAMY salesman, and everybody else probably did the same! I didn't ask why, I was too shocked... ^^ ...

Why!?! I know some stores where I still can find the baby-blue ones with the red clip, they are still everywhere here... last month I even saw the orange Safari Flame in a display window of a small shop and bought it for just 16 Euros! It's really strange that the limegreen Safari disappeared overnight... get them while you still can!

But there are probably many limegreens out there on the net, no problem to get it from e-bay or other places...

I miss that color... -_-

I love my lime coloured Safari! I might just have to go and buy another one before they disappear. I did notice they had vanished from The Writing Desk! :(

I'll bet you'll find a lot more lime Lamy's in one place: eBay. :)

I didn't even realize lime was LE. I guess it makes an even better gift to have received now!

Can't believe my luck. My lime Lamy was my inked choice for today! Considering the newby that I am, it's amazing that I even have this "limited edition" and much loved pen. Must admit that it is one of my favs.

I have these too at: www.isellpens.com .

And although his isn't the lowest price (by $1.27), he has a great selection of other pens too (easy to pick another to go along with your purchase, to ride along on the same shipping price), plus excellent customer service. :)

In fact, wouldn't this Retro 51 ($6) go well with the Lime Safari?

Have you heard any whispers about the new colour for this year, Martin?

John

More than that, I've known for some time what it will be B) . However, Paperworld is only a couple weeks away when I'm sure the official announcement will be made. Availability is usually from the Spring onwards.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
