On certain papers (specifically a Black n Red I use to log phone messages), this ink simply will not dry. I love the color, but the properties irritate me.

That must indeed be a wet writer, as the color is considerably darker than mine, which still appears as a dark green, but not so dark as yours.

The darkness of this colour varies greatly depending on the pen it's in.

And a q-tip swab yields this:

Same here, yeah. My Ebony Green is considerably lighter in the pens I've tried it in.

Tried this in the Danitrio Cum Laude I got today and made sure to shake the hell out of the bottle before I loaded it in, and this is suddenly a way nicer color than before, for me - much more like the review samples.

Just wanted to add a quick scan of this ink and say that the colour of MicheleB's review is quite close to what I see on paper.

In the two pens I have used it in I have found that it is not tolerant of poorer quality papers i.e. it bleeds quite readily and dramatically. Plan to still try it in a drier nib and see how it does on the low quality paper, also hoping for some shading as it seems like it might with a dry nib. At the moment I am using it as the final test in my search for common paper that is fountain pen friendly (in New Zealand). Have also had slower drying times on poor quality paper.

It is a very very dark green but I don't believe it could be mistaken for black, hope I am making sense.

Penguinmaster - this is the color I am getting from a Lamy Safari fine nib. A little to "black" for my liking. Tomorrow, I am going to try diluting the ink 4-to-1 with distilled water. Hopefully, this will allow the green to peek through a little more.

Thanks for the review.

Update: The 4:1 dilution seemed to make no perceptible difference.

Pens are like watches , once you start a collection, you can hardly go back. And pens like all fine luxury items do improve with time

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
