Received this in the mail and thought I'd do a review of it.

The physicals:

Size:8.5 x 5.5 x 0.75" (all measurements are estimates)

The cover of the journal is black leatherette with a sewn pattern around the outside edge, It comes with a removable sticker giving the particulars of the book. It is soft cover but has a pleasant heft to it. I would not say this is a pocketbook but rather something to be on your desk or in a briefcase.

Now to the 'meat' of the journal. It came with a little brochure which says among other things that the paper is from the Clairfontaine mills! It is also PEFC certified to help protect existing forests.

The first page is a rather detailed form for standard data- something I fill in each year as I like to have some of that information all toghether in one spot.

As well the bottom corner of each page is perforated to allow quick opening to the present date.

There is a semiannual planner next giving 1/3 of a line to each day- this is where I put birthdays and anniversaries

A 2008 & 2009 monthly planner is next before going to the daily sheets

The days have the month printed as a 'tab' on each page for quick finding as well the month in the corner as well as days remaining/ days passing. The top inch or so holds the date and the small calender but leaves enough room for notes.

The sheet is broken down into half hours from 8am to 8pm ( I would have liked more time maybe hourly instead) but the nice thing is that Saturday and Sunday get a day as well.

There is a 2010 year planner next as well as space for addresses at the end of the book.

Now onto the paper

I happen to have 4 pens inked up right now:

Sheaffer fine italic nonsense: Sheaffer brown
Sheaffer desk pen fine with a mix brown
A Parker Gel pen
A Waterman Serenite, fine with W blue/black ink
Pelikano Fine with Pelikan brilliant red

first up was the Serenite which put on a nice wet line that took time to dry but did not feather or bleed, there is some see-through but the paper is thin so I expected that.

Pelikano Fine put on a red line without the dry time but did not feather as well

Nononsense Italic put down another wet line but it behaved as wonderfully as the other two

The Desk pen- would you believe some dry time then no feathering or bleeding as well!

The Gel pen just because I figure it is what I am going to be using mostly or pencil- and it worked quite nicely.

So thumbs up on the design and FP quality of the journal.

Does it seem like ink takes a trifle longer to dry in these planners? Or am I just impatient to turn the page and add more info?

yes, the paper for this diary does not absorb fountain pen ink readily. That's true of most Clairefontaine paper. It's good paper for fountain pen ink because it doesn't tend to encourage bleeding or feathering, but it is a bit slower to dry.
