Two of my female fountain pen peers (who I see in the flesh) own metal Century IIs, so I think of them as a feminine pen. That said, I do like the design; as you said it's simple but unique, not looking excessively expensive nor like an imitation of something else. I can easily see one making it into my hands one day, or into a very lucky girlfriend's hands. That is, for better or worse, all in the future.

It was a Century II that started this whole FP odyssey for me, so am very loyal to them. They are great value for money pens, because the nibs are so fantastic. I also think the design of the body is iconic. Not everyone's cup of tea, but I love them.

Not sure I agree with the comment about a feminine pen, the Century maybe as it is quite slim, the Century II is somewhat larger, maybe I'm just biased because I have one (of each actually). These are nice pens which write really well and ones I still use from time to time (along with the matching BP/MP).

That was a very nice review. I thinking of getting a Cross Fountain Pen and the ones that really stood out for me was the Cross ATX Fountain Pen, Cross Affinity Fountain Pen and the Cross Century Medalist II Fountain Pen. I really can't decide between those three so which ones would you prefer?

Mel, the original post is 3 1/2 years old. You may want to ask that question in the Writing Instruments forum. I like my Century II and will get a B nib for it someday but it is a slender pen, sometimes I wish it was thicker. I love the converter, it threads on and holds a lot.
