While reading an article on fake Duponts (link as below), it mentioned about the leaf logo on the pen cap.
http://www.stylophilesonline.com/02-06/02count.htm

My black Orpheo with gold trim (large size), however, does not have the leaf logo on the bottom of the cap. The leaf logo is instead engraved on the top of the cap on the gold trim. I wonder if this is another version of the Orpheo, and if anyone has the leaf logo engraved on the top of the cap instead?

My other question is, are the black strips on the sterling silver Orpheo lacque? Because I see 'Laque De Chine' engraved on the top of the cap, just like the black version.

These nibs are M nibs. I am looking if someone wants to exchange their F nibs for mine.

Thanks,
purpledog
p.s. the blue coloration on the nib is from the Noodler's ink.

Purpledog,
I have a pair of Orpheos myself, both red. The Vertigo-II has the leaf on the gold cap top like yours, it's hard to see in my quick scan but if you download the image and view it a 200% or 400% it's at least visible. The Laque Ecaille II (the red and black mottled one) has the leaf on the lacquer just above the cap band, that one is pretty clear. It looks to me like either location is correct, depending on the model.

Thanks, Bill. I feel more assured now.

Your Orpheos are very pretty. Are the Vertigo and Laque Ecaille different versions of the Orpheo? I am a bit confused on why our 2 pens have different names.

thanks,
purpledog

My Paladium and Black has the leaf on the top band near the clip. My gold one has some other funny looking mark where the leaf mark is supposed to be. Perhaps a hallmark?

Wow, that silver and black is stunning! What model is that, and how much do they go for (if you don't mind me asking)?

Thanks for clarifying that the leaf logo can be engraved on authentic pens. I did not know that. My Orpheo has the gold leaf painted on the cap, and I was told specifically to look for that feature on authentic pens - but, that was a number of years ago.

purpledog, those pens look great. I hope you enjoy them.

I own one of these limited edition silver and black Orpheo's, and it's even better-looking in person than it is in the pictures. And it writes very, very well, too.

I am so happy that this post has info on the Dupont fakes. I just bought an Olympio Gold/Black @ Paradise pens for $770 and found one a week later on ebay for $245 which I also purchased. I can't wait to get it in and verify them side by side. I am thrilled to have purchased one for so cheap. I can keep the new one un-inked and the other for an everyday user.

Thank you for the info!!!

Best Regards,

Bujalino

My Nocturne Olympio (large size) has the leaf logo on the lacquer at the bottom of the cap.

Interestingly enough, none of my "white" Duponts (Shaman X-Large Olympio, Shaman D-Link, Caprice) have this leaf logo though hmm1.gif

Purpledog I am feeling true envy over that silver Dupont -- it's gorgeous!!! I've been drooling over this model ever since I first saw it -- and I just can't afford it. In fact, it is the ONLY pen I've wanted, for months and months... crybaby.gif By the time I have $$ saved up, I'm sure they won't be available.

So -- congratulations, and enjoy that pen!!!

While using the black Orpheo, I observed that the clip tends to move a little sideways (a few millimeters) when given a little nudge at the end of the clip. Is this supposed to be normal?

I am thinking of sending to S.T. Dupont to tighten the clip. Does anyone know where can I send to in the States or in Asia since I am heading back to Asia in a couple of weeks? Or it will not be worth the money because of the high service fee?

thanks,
purpledog

There is nothing wrong with the pen. Both of mine do that.

For what it's worth, I called WorldLux asking about this a while back, & they told me Dupont designs the clip that way on purpose.
