Namici Falcon and converters?

Mindstorm

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I just ordered myself a Namiki Falcon with a medium nib from Richard Binder :) Do you know if the Pilot CON-70 pump converter will fit and work in the Falcon? Any ideas of were I can get one online?

Kind regards,

Karl

You could try asking Richard since you're purchasing the pen from him. I'm sure he would be able to answer any question(s) that may you have regarding the Falcon. The Con-70 can be found here, ebay (engeika), or ujuku.

The CON-70 does NOT fit in the Falcon... I just tried. Not even close, which is too bad because the pen could really use the extra ink capacity.

:crybaby:

Bummer! I really had high hopes for the CON-70.

I thank you for the effort to give it a try though! It's good to know that someone with both items at hand made a practical test to verify the compatibility of the two.

BTW, which converter is shipped with the Falcon - is it the CON-20? I've only used the twist converter that came with my VP. How's the CON-20, good or bad? I guess my best path forward now is to use the Pilot cartridges and a syringe...

Kind regards,

Karl

Hi,

Here in the states, they are typically shipped with the Con-50.

I think the Con-20 is better than the Con-50 personally. The Con-50 seems to hold less ink. You can't see the ink level in the Con-20 though

I had high hopes too, when I picked up a pair of them in Tokyo last week. I have quite a few Pilots, all vintage, and I have yet to find a pen the CON-70 fits. It must be designed for the larger modern Pilots only.

I don't recall if any converter came with my Falcon. Mine has been reground to XXF with extra flex. It is a lot of fun but it guzzles the ink when pushing it to flex so I have been using a refilled cartridge. The CON-20 works well and it might be a better choice for the Falcon due to the slightly larger capacity. I don't mind the lower capacity of the CON-50 because I rotate pens often and it has the added benefit of being able to check how much ink is left.

Enjoy your new pen!

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
