What a great shade of red. It's now on my list. Have you ever seen it next to Noodler's Tianenmen Red?

Any chance of a scan of the two together? Anyone? Please!

I've been using Antietam for almost 3 years now and have noticed that it shades differently depending on the pen and paper. In some cases, it's predominately red, in others orange and in others, brown. I love it in all its variations!

Why do they call it "Antietam"? Just because it's a blood-red, and that was a bloody battle? Seems kinda ghoulish to me ...

I seem to remember its being the replica of a red used during that time. Search for "antietam" and "Eternally Noodling" for details.

Best,

David

Hi,

If you go Google Noodlers Ink you will get a chart with all the inks listed and a stripe of each.

I ordered Noodler's Cayenne and Purple Bream the other day. Hard to see true color on monitor screens.

If you want a real live sample of both, I am certainly willing to send you a written sample. Let me know what your snail mail is.

Hi,

Antietam was the bloodiest battle during the Civil War. 23,000 killed, wounded, or missing after only 12 hours of fighting. :(

Why Tianenman Red? The Chinese love red; it a good luck color. Not to mention yet another bloody massacre that was covered up by their media. :(

Thanks for the review. This is a great ink that I use every day to grade papers because it allows me to use the traditional reddish color without all the negativity associated with bright red ink. I find that students can see my comments more clearly in contrast with the black ink of their papers.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
