Georges, just received mine today in Sanibel Blue with a medium 18c gold nib. Initial impressions are that this is an outstanding FP; all that I expected and then some: classic styling, beautiful colour and simple adornment, with a smooth, juicy nib. It could well displace my Parker Duofold Centennial as my favourite all round FP.

This is a pen that I have always liked in a color that I have always liked. Maybe some day... or will it then be a Wahl Doric instead.... :roflmho:

Definitely inspired by the beautiful Wahl Doric pen of old.

Pics of before repair when I purchased the pen initially the pen in 2007 before the blue section where the nib is broke and before a small part of the cap went missing.

I am glad the repairs came out okay. I also like the Americana a lot. I agree the pen has an ergonomic feel, and it is an excellent size for my hand - about Pel M-800/Duofold Centennial sized. I have two - red and grey - and both write very well. I have had the grey one, M nib, in rotation this month and I find it is one of my favorite Bexley pens. I also lament that this model is no longer made.

I purchased one of the last Americana's from Richard Binder at the Philly show

this past weekend. I chose the Red which is just stunning to look at at. The

feel of the pen is great. I had the nib ground to a .7 CI by Richard and is

just great to write with. Like others have said, it is a shame that this

particular pen is no longer made. IMHO it is one of the best looking pens out

there.

Nice review and nice pen, thanks.

And how can this be, because he is the Kwisatz Haderach.

I have just bought one of these this month from Richard Binder, and it is great. It is a lovely red one with a medium nib.

A bonus was that customs ignored the parcel...a real bonus !

It is at a reduced price at the moment, and I wish a blue one was available !

Worth seeking out

John

Excuse me, what is the barrel made of?

"Resin" aka... fancy plastic.

I've got a couple of these pens and they are wonderful.

Have had a blue one for years and just got a red one from Richard Binder about a month ago. Very nice pens.

I deliberated a long time on getting one of the last red ones from Richard Binder, and now I can't imagine why, as it quickly rose to the top of my favourites. I already rue not scooping a green one, but the blue... stunning. Already regretting not having the money for a 2012 Owner's Club in a similar blue, but piston filled (drools). Or the orange, or the green... why must Bexley make so many beautiful pens?

I have a red one that I got from Richard B ground to an EF point. One of my favorite pens.. I can't understand why it's no longer made.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
