Hi,

Does anybody know how much ink the Pelikan M200 holds? How about the other Pelikans (including the Pelikan convertor)?

Hi, Dillon. Interesting that you should ask.

Just yesterday I measured the capacities of 2 pens, one of which was a recent M200.

Here's my method: Fill pen normally, expel ink into a vessel, suck ink into syringe. Sources of error: some ink remains in the pen; some ink remains in the vessel; syringe markings are not that accurate.

With those caveats, my results:

Pelikan M200 ~1.5 ml
"The De La Rue Pen", c. mid-30s ~1.0 ml

(from memory) int'l. converter ~0.7 ml

The DLR is a not-at-all chunky lever-filler, so probably has (at best) a very average-sized sac. I was surprised that it holds 2/3 the ink of the M200, and was surprised the Pelikan doesn't hold more ink.

It's been pointed out many times, however, that evaporation is often as significant a factor as volume. (My experience is that both the Pelikan and DLR caps seal well.)

Any corroborating data?

officially, the M200 holds about 1.3 mls. Arnav is correct that the small international carts hold about .7 mls. Pelikans larger than the 200 do not hold more than the 200. They're all about the same.

Hi,

Thanks, I just got my Pelikan M200 from the mail a few minutes ago, I posted my review at RS. It is such a good pen.

officially, the M200 holds about 1.3 mls.

I measured the ink capacity by weighing the pen before and after filling with water. The weight gain was 1.4 gm. The feed was dry before I filled the pen, and I did my best to eliminate all the air bubbles inside the pen.
