So today my postal delivery person came to my door needing a signature, which was my package from Diamine with my four inks I ordered last week.

Unfortunately, they didn't survive the trip. The postman handed over a package that was actually dripping a dark colored ink.

Here's the resultant carnage:

I've already sent an email off to them, but I think from here on out I'll be ordering glass bottles of Noodlers or Herbin from Jetpens.

That's bad. I'm very sorry to see this. My Diamine shippments were all unharmed so far, the plastic bottles are'nt prone to easy cracking. The postal service must have battered this package badly. :(

Oh, jeez - I am so sorry! Was it only one of the four that was trashed?

My first order from Diamine arrived in fine condition, the second order has gone MIA (postal strike in UK?).

Oh my goodness! I've ordered the plastic bottles from them before and mine arrive without so much as a scratch on them. That looks like they was run over by the mail truck!

+1 for someone who ordered the plastic bottles before with no issues. My shipment arrived in a corrogated card board box and the contents well protected with bubble wrap. I see here that while the bottles are swarthed with bubble wrap, the outer bag protection leaves a lot to be desired.

Hmm, will probably still order from them once the postal strike is over, but this certainly looks bad.

Oh gosh, sorry about that! I'm sure that Diamine will send you a new bottle, or something :)

Only one of the four was damaged to the point of splitting. The bottle that was next to this one had a dented corner, but was otherwise intact. About 15mL of ink was spread over the package.

I'm guessing since the outside of the package was still a little wet that it might have happened on the US side of things, but it's possible given the plastic lining and the amount of ink that it could have happened sooner than that.

Still waiting to hear back from Diamine. I'm not upset at all, I totally understand these things happen, just thought they would be interesting photos for those of us ink fans around here.

It looks like the package was crushed. Is that what happened, as far as you can tell?
There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old’s life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs.

well, if the package hadn't been dripping ink when I got it, to be honest I would have thought it was totally fine. The packaging wasn't damaged in any way.

It definitely looks like the bottle was crushed, but none of the bubble wrap was compressed badly, so it may have just been a faulty bottle. The rest seemed to take the abuse fine and the box of cartridges, besides being sopping wet with ink, seemed to be in fine shape as well.

So is any of the ink still usable? What colors were they anyway?

Well, it has it's pros and cons. The shipping rates of Diamine are really low, and, because of the plastic bottles lying flat, these packages slip easilly into a mailbox. They put glass bottles into regular boxes, so that's another story. These plastic bottles OTOH have some fexibility and can take light beating. A broken plastic box indicates maltreatment, IMHO.

BTW the plastic bottles are good for reuse and travelling, too.

Yes, I like the plastic bottles. They're (normally) very forgiving.

The leaking color is "Grey" the other three colors are Ruby, WES Kensington Blue, and Hope Pink.

The other bottles are intact and useable after a hosedown in the sink.

I just heard back from Christine at Diamine...they're resending the order, and reportedly including a few extra colors for my trouble. Such very kind service!
