Great review. I love some of the WEs - especially the proust and shaw. I find some of the others uncomfortable to use and I really want to HOLD this pen before making any decisions. Shame it still isn't out in Australia yet......

Nice review, I did not want to read it until I opened my. One of your photo on the end of the pen showed an reflection of "Mont Blanc" on it had puzzled me for a second because my Mann does not have it. But it would have been nice if MB engraved their name on it just like your picture showed.

Hi Andy,

that was a "special" effect! Gotcha! ...hehe

+1 on the Proust and Shaw..These are are the only 2 other W.E which really appealed to me

Nice "special effect" MB should put that on some of their pens.

A really nice review, and the photos....well everyone said it before me...fantastic! This is the first time I stopped to take a look at the Mann and I like what I saw, and read. Good job on this and thanks.

Great review Shinchan ... and curse you for making me want another exorbitant (at least for me) W.E. Although it's well behind an agatha at the moment. Would be great to see a size comparison on this one too.

Really great review and photos. Thank you for the time and effort you have put into sharing this lovely pen with us!

I was at the local MB Boutique yesterday and saw the Mann face to face. For me, it's a little small since I am getting used to 149s as the standard but it's a very well made pen.

All you need now are the little black gloves that the boutique employees wear ;)

The question is where can I find those black velvet gloves!!!

This review has forced the Mann into my brain (whereas I had been trying--fairly successfully I might add--to force it out). I keep coming back to look at the photos but I always end up reading the text in full. After getting the chance to see the pen in person at a boutique, I was won over completely. So now I'm waiting for my B-nibbed Mann from FPH. And it is all Shinchan's fault. :)

The pen is mightier than the sword...How true it is! ;)

Coincidentally, my Broad and Ghost Plane’s Broad comes with serial numbers close to the tail end of 12,000, and based on initial sampling i.e PenTieRun’s and goodguy’s Fines are numbered 5xxx & 6xxx, I am speculating that Montblanc is allocating the serial numbers based on the Thomas Mann nib size.

I have been meaning to comment here re: my Mann's number. I received it the other day--a broad nib--and it is 6xxx. My broad-nibbed Faulkner is 8xxx while my B Verne is 4xxx. On the other hand, my medium-nibbed Woolf is 10xxx and my M Dostoevsky is 11xxx. So I kind of doubt that Montblanc allocates serial numbers based on the nib size.

By the way, I love the pen. I am very glad that I bought it. It wrote straight out of the box, perfect flow, lots of line variation. I love the secure cap and the weight of the pen. It's filled with Racing Green at the moment.

Today I checked the availibility in a boutique and asked which nib-size they have. The salesman respond to me that he has two with a M-nib both with number 50xx and a B-nib with 64xx.
So I don't think they allocate serial numbers on nib-size.
