Ok, as I couldn't find this ink via search - and I have it, I gave writing my own ink review a try...

the final rult is a touch lighter than the pics I think - its difficult to get accurate colour reproduction - but its fairly close :)

Here we go:

all 4 pics on Imageshack (original post):

Thanks for the review, it's a great looking ink. Maybe you can resize the pics and post them here or use another free photosite (flickr or something) because the imageshack popups are kind of annoying.

Thanks - you're welcome :)

What pop-ups? I never noticed any from Imageshack...

I have resized them so that they are visible in full - but still hosted on Imageshack at the moment...

Nice! I sometimes think I need this ink. Then I decide it's too green to be "steel blue" and then I see a nice review (shows lovely shading to my eye) and decide it's not too green.

oh well. Next Diamine order maybe. :)

It is quite green - I originally expected a blue while in the shop, opened the cardboard boy and found its quite green - maybe a very, very dark turqoise ven - but it is a nice colour, I used it in a couple of letters.

Thanks for the review. Interesting color, got to try it.

Your welcome :)

Edit: I just noticed - I missed out letter on a "were" in the review... ah well, my excuse is English is my second language :D

Great review!

Steel Blue (Blue?!?) is one of my favorite colors. The shading is fantastic and it flows smoothly from every pen I have tried it in.

That's not blue, that's teal! Dumb Diamine.

I get it...

"S" teal Blue.

Now it makes sense.

Note to Diamine - don't let the color blind name your inks.

Phil, the ink maker at Diamine and a member of this forum, has said that while they are aware that a couple of the color names don't match what most folks think of for that color, these inks/colors have been in production for many years as such--thus they've kept the original color name.

We've had a couple of long threads about the naming of inks. It used to annoy me but now I tend to think of a lot of these less-than-apt names as "distinktive" :P It can mess with newbies though who expect a gray-blue with this ink or a lovely blue suede blue with PR Blue Suede. Thank goodness for ink reviews in this forum because if you do your homework here first, you're less likely to be disappointed or surprised by an ink.

I would be one of them :D the inks name did throw me off - but I buy "my stuff" in a shop, and so could open the boy and see what's inside, and thus thought it seemed interesting. :)

And now I use it for letters :D :)

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
