Quick question

Excuse me, but do any of you know where I can find Clairefontaine notebooks in Singapore? I tried looking in the obvious places, but to no avail (obviously) and I can't order online - my parents will think I'm nuts. So, the only way for me to get these notebooks is to find them in Singapore, but I don't know where to look. If any of you happen to know, could you please point out the way? :) (By the way, this is the first smiley I posted on FPN. Yay!)

According to Readymade, Rhodia uses Clairfontaine paper in their e-pure notebooks (not the graph pads) and you can find them at Booksactually

NBC in Raffles City basement had some Clairefontaine notebooks last month, but I didn't see them when I went last week. Still, can go in and ask :)

According to a recent FPN posting, Rhodia won't use Clairefontaine paper in the ePure notebooks any more. So if you like, get 'em while stocks last.

Hello,

I popped by Booksactually earlier this evening and spoke to Kenny.

He still has some of the e-pure notebooks made in Rhodia paper (4 small, 4 big) and might not be bringing in them in any more.

The small ones go for $25 and the large ones for $35.

Clairefontaine papers may not be FP friendly. Its surface is very smooth and you are likely to experience skipping problems. Rhodia seems to have enough texture to absorb ink and does not bleed easily. Prices for Rhodia journals is high in Singapore, unfortunately ordering online from overseas is not cheaper either as papers are very heavy.

It makes sense to buy A4 sizes at S$16-$17 per pad. I ordered mine from Kinokuniya at Takashimaya, Isetan at Shaw towers and Tango Mango, grabbed as many as I can find. With the pads, I would head next to traditional bookbinders and get them made into stitch bound journals. The buckram covers come in many attractive colors and make its owners very happy to get theirs customized.

If you are game, buy your Rhodia pads and together we can make a large book binding order. Prices is around $9-$10 per journal depending on quantity.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
