Great idea, Mana. And your flock is awesome and still growing.. :D

I always enjoy to see different Pelikan collections- they all are great. Christoph collection and photo's for me like benchmark. Beautiful, just beautiful.

Some of my chest content, mainly vintage 100 or 100 N. 800 series pen still safely packed and waiting why I finish renewal of my library room.

Thank you, but the very reverse is true. Your collection ist breathtaking!

I have never seen a 250 pencil in red and tortoise. I didn't even know that it does exist!

Barutti, thank you for your kind words! I do have to say that it has nothing on your collection though which is on par with Christofs, both leave me speechless... wow!

I'm amazed that mana's amazing collection was almost immediately "destroyed" by some impressive collections. Thanks everyone for sharing some pen porn.

Below is my current accumulation. Planning to sell the top tortoise at least and give the green 140 to a family member. Otherwise I think I "need" the rest. The first and third from the left are frankenpelikans. The left black 140 has Taylorix cap and 400 series nib. The fourth one is a 100 model with Ibis piston mechanism.

Actually, Pelikan offered black 400 and 400NN with green ink windows already in the 1950's and 60's. These pens are quite difficult to find these days...

Thanks for the info Christof. I will be a little more careful with this pen :)

What beautiful collections you all have. I just have to think: I am not jealous, I am not jealous, I am not jealous. Let me admit it, I'm actually a bit jealous

Honestly, I too.. before noticed on bay all 3 tortoise 250 pencils in same month. Of course, I bid and succeed. 2 of them still waiting some service to do.

Honestly, it was never my intention to destroy someone else‘s collection with my photos. I just followed the invitation of the OP....

It might be the case... How many posts I need for that, if you know, please? The file has 164KB.

I don´t know if I remember correctly, but it could well be you can´t post any pictures before you reach Gold Status.

I couldn´t find anything about the posting of pictures being mentioned there, but with your problem something rings in the back of my head and says "Could be connected!".

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
