I've been using kolinsky sable brushes for drawing comic books for over 20 years and have just ordered the Kuretake no 50. In order of importance, I'd say that being truly black comes before being waterproof. I'd like to syringe fill the included cartridges and was wondering if the Zig Cartoonist (https://www.amazon.ca/Zig-Cartoonist-Highly-Opaque-Black/dp/B006MW7NE6?th=1) ink is the same as what's included in the box.

That’s more like it! May take a month or so to come down to near these prices, however.

Well, I've got "girly" hands. The M200/M400 pens are a perfect size and weight for me. I passed on the M600 Pink and White LE when it came out because I got to hold one at a pen show and felt it was too heavy for me to use. There's a woman in my local pen club who has small hands but likes hefty pens. And a guy who used to be in it who actually had a lot of thin, small, lightweight pens. It's just a matter of what feels right for each person and that's going to vary (and possibly also vary over time as well). Ironically, the largest pen I own is the restored vintage Sheaffer Balance Oversize which had belonged to my husband's grandfather. It's large, but very light for its size. I'm not too keen on flushing hard rubber sections either. I also try to limit cleaning to cotton swabs and water with a bit of dishwater detergent. Only in bad cases do I add a little ammonia, but I never flush pens with that mixture

Thanks @tommym and @inkstainedruth for your explanation of how Lava soap works. I didn't notice any difference beyond clean hands, but maybe I should just wear gloves when I clean out my pens. I don't mind inky fingers, but my better half is less than impressed those days. And yes, I've lost a few decent shirts to ink stains. I rarely go clothes shopping these days otherwise. Maybe if I thought of shirts as "pen carriers" I might be more excited to go clothes shopping I just have to remind myself not to get a pocket protector. Have a good weekend folks!

Very good pen. I bought one in 2004 from a stationery shop on W 57th Street (shop is now long gone). And its in my pocket today - loaded with Noodler's Liberty's Elesium ink.

The other three I had heard of....and Ottoman Azure had been on an antique ink list of mine....but it wasn't until last year the imported Noodlers became cheap enough to buy here in Germany. I wanted to make sure Navaho, Kiowa and Ottoman...shaded well. Twelve or more years ago, I was pretty much up to date with shading inks...having a few threads involving shading............but I discover I have been living behind the moon since then....with all the new good companies. I let buying pens and inkwells soak up ink money....and shudder at adding mailing costs to the price of ink....................cheap in all the wrong places.

That looks very nice. I love it. The poem about spring and nature is so true. Amazing and powerful including all the colors, rain and wind.

Cotton swabs and a little water usually is enough for me, after removing the feed and nib (which can be soaked).
