All too common a problem. I've usually rebuilt the damaged threads with added material on the lathe.

Thanks, I found a sringe that had a seal that when I modified it slightly fit wonderfully in the old 88. My problem now is that the pen cannot keep up good ink flow when i use thick lines with moderate speed. I love the pen but need better flow. I have two and both have the same problem. I wonder if it is me.

I second Labeo. He was able to do many "impossible" repairs for me in the past. One of which was repairing a chipped cap lip. He made me a whole new cap lip with the exact same Italian celluloid and refinished the metal hardware. The pen wasn't even Italian. It was British,
