I know that it can be done, but I think most here will advise against changing nibs with ink still in the pen. The first time I changed nibs on an Estie, at the end of the smudge-free operation I suddenly realized I'd only just inked the pen the day before. When I thought of what could have happened if I'd tipped my hand this way or that...well, I vowed only to change nibs on empty pens.

BE VERY CAREFUL THAT YOU KEEP THE PEN UPRIGHT!!!!!!!!
It is amazing how much ink you can get all over the place it you don't watch what you are doing.... and NO I won't tell you how I know that..
